Finish heist (barely, after losing significant time to bugged guard reveal circles).

Reward coffer: Light Sylvarra's Scales overland drop, which I have, instead of any one of the 19 heist-only drops I need to collect.

Com'on, ZOS, this thing has been around for almost SIX YEARS.

The RNG gods were not on your side that day.
Nocturnal must have had it out for your character.

On a more serious note, it very likely could have just been RNG. I've seen that kind of luck with perfectly fair dice in a D&D game.

As someone who really enjoys TG content, I really do feel that heists need a major rework. More interesting content for thieves in general would be wonderful.
    Legends never die
    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause
    Legends never die

I do have to agree with you on that. When I noticed that you can get more loot from a Dark Brotherhood daily quest than you could a Thieves Guild daily quest, it just felt wrong.

Just having everything work properly, like the detect circles and the re-armed traps that still show as disarmed would be a big improvement.

OP, I don't usually fail forcing the lock more than once, if at all, but sometimes, they are a PITA.

    What's your favourite/least favourite map?

My favourite is Glittering Grotto and the one that's always a pain is The Hidaway.

Good news! Light is not an overland drop for Syvarra's Scales, medium is.

The heists are an example of incredibly bad game design. Don't get me wrong here though, the concept itself is fine, and while the mechanics involve way too much annoying RNG, they are fun on their own, and do offer something else to do in the game beside just slaughtering mobs. The real boneheaded move was to limit them to only once per day on each character.

Those heists were supposed to be the cool new feature added by Thieves Guild DLC, so why on earth limit your ability to engage with them. You can run the same bloody dungeon hundred times each day and perfect your execution and grind for gear, but for heists... You get one chance, and if the RNGesus doesn't bless you that day... Too bad. Try again tomorrow.

Sure you can swap characters, but it's still stupid that your supposed thief can only do thieffy stuff once per day. It's not like the rewards make such artificial gatekeeping sensible. It's pretty much pure garbage anyway, so who cares if someone decides to spend a hole day grinding heists. If that is what they want, let them. It's content they paid for, one way or the other, so let them enjoy said content as they please. Limiting it is just plain stupid.

However, the real disappointment is their utter abandonment. You got all these mechanics and systems in place, and nothing new is being done with them. No new rewards, no new maps, no new missions. And it's not as if sneaking about, aiming for the non-detection no kills sortta gameplay, isn't popular with players. Whole games have been released around such mechanics.

Back when we were still waiting for Morrowind, the first "chapter" to drop, I honestly though they would include couple of new VVardenfell specific Thieves guild, and Dark Brotherhood, related missions. That they would support and expand all those thievery mechanics and missions with new content as they added new zones in to the game. But nope. It's just the same old delves and dungeons and world bosses to grind and endless amount of mobs to kill. All the while those sneaky DLCs keep gathering dust and offer the same old burned out content. Such a bloody wasted opportunity. This game really could've used more content that didn't revolve around just fighting things.

Agreed, some heists are fun, but most are dull and tedious.

Black sacraments on the other hand are fun.

Fun heists are ones which allow for player to choose which order will it be completed.

tedious are ones which have one set path, and are clear timed runs where if you take 5 second to long you get locked between two lamp guards.

Also on a side note, they could really rework lamp guards in both heists and BC, since they bug out half the time.
