I'm bringing an old sorcerer out of retirement and he has some progress on mage guild, but the glowing gold books that would otherwise give credit for mage guild exp are not doing so. bug? Anyway to fix this?

Only purple glowing books give exp to mages guild
    Avid reader of wes’-pts-diary[RIP]

    NerfAS and Shill ruins everything

Skinny-meta-fake, graded D, and can’t explain the law of diminishing marginal returns.

I won’t post that Wes, I’ll get [snipped] for the last time

Gold books are just random books/notes that you haven't read yet. BLUE books contribute towards mage guild progress.

Yep, the blue books only. It's frustrating how long it takes to find enough to hit level 10. It's another example of how stam players have it better than mag. You just kill monsters and level up fighter's guild but it takes 100 hours running around finding random books to level mages guild.

Honestly, some stam classes run meteor now, so they need it too. The easiest way is to focus more on completing zone lorebooks or set collections, because you get 25 extra rapport for doing so. Deshaan, for example, is super easy, because all 10 of them are fairly close in the zone.

Yep, unfortunatelly the same here on playstation :( completed the whole Vvardenfell map , found the lorebooks , but mageguild stuck at lvl1.

You did not find the blue books then. You found the other books which are tracked in the zone guide which are not blue. Most of the blue (some people think they look purple) books are found in/around tents and other mini settlements out in the wilderness and not in big cities. You can find some in large cities but you'll find way more just running around in the wilderness. Whenever you see a tent or other very small area that looks like a person camped there or something similar that is where most of the lorebooks exist that actually raise your mage's guild skill line. Look for anything glowing blue/purple. Just to give you an idea I found enough just running around Stonefalls and Grahtwood for a day or 2 (without specifically looking for them) to raise my mage's guild to level 3.

The Mages Guild books (Shalidor’s Library) also disappear when you read them. If they’re still there afterwards, you’ve found a book from the Eidetic Memory, not the Mages Guild collection.
