How much time a day do you spend dealing with crafting?

What system and mods do you use?
How many characters?

Do you think its too much time?

Do you do a lot of stuff after you do crafting?

I'll go first:
I spend between 3-4 hours a day.
PS4, no mods.
18 Characters
Its very much too much time to organize, craft, turn in, open boxes, sell junk, and list anything worth selling.
I usually play other games after I do my crafting, or if there's an event I'll do that. I very rarely have time to play the game after all the crafting.

Xbox, so no mods. 13 characters, but I don't always do writs with them all. Lately, I've mostly been doing just the consumable writs plus jewelry, so just 4 writs per character. My main does all the writs, though. I've never timed myself, but I suspect most of the time is taken up logging each character. It's easy gold and I usually get a few master writs each day.

PC, no addons. 50 characters across two accounts on two servers, all of whom craft but only rarely doing writs and generally only crafting for a few minutes with whichever characters I'm playing and according to what they're doing which is basically overland adventuring. I only rarely carry out the odd writ. I usually do the crafting endeavours.

5 minutes. I do writs on one character, and even that is a chore.

No add-ons, 65 minutes for all crafting dailies on 18 characters. And no, I do not think it is too much work. Every area of the game requires a time investment, and so does crafting.

The only thing I feel is unfair, is that players are allowed to bot the crafting experience with an add-on. Which makes the add-on craft the items for those players. This to me feels like crafting is an undervalued part of the game, which ZOS feels players can skip. While in fact it is just like any other part of the game, in which botting should not be allowed. If players do not have time to craft, they should not be crafting. If I do not have time for dungeons, I should not be botting a dungeon with an add-on. Therefor ZOS should not allow the automated crafting add-on.

There are also some inconsistencies with crafting(in order of importance):
1: Mudcrab chitin, there is no way to acquire this outside of hunting mudcrabs. ZOS should either add those to the daily quest reward, and add them to the surveys. Or remove the 3/3 mudcrab chitin required quest.
2: The enchanting dailies basically require 18 oko runes each day, if it is not the rune to craft, it is the acquire an oko rune. This is too extreme. ZOS should make the enchanting dailies require much less oko's.
3: Platinum runs out WAY too fast. ZOS should add a hireling, and make boxes return the same amount as the other dailies(15 instead of 7).
4: Jewelry crafting gives WAY too many superior master writs in correlation to the superior grain gains. So many that it is impossible to keep up with gaining superior upgrading materials. Doing 18 jewelry dailies does not give 20 superior grains required for 1 superior master writ, but doing dailies on 18 characters per day usually gives 3-4 superior master writs. These values are WAY off. Change the grain daily quest rewards to platings for green/blue quality to fix this.
5: Some jewelry crafting traits should be much easier to acquire.

    Just my thoughts.

I'm a little bit of an oddball. I don't use lazy writ crafter or harvest map. I kinda like doing writs each at a time. I hide grass, put only one single skill point into making them glow, and it makes there be no need for harvest map.

On console if you don't mind your toons having full inventories it's best to multi craft 6 or 9 days worth of writs in advance. Saves a bunch of time.

For me writs on 5 toons take maybe 20 minutes a day. The 9th day it takes like an hour to sort out the 9 days worth of loot.

I do writs, surveys, deconning, etc. while I queue for dps daily dungeon on my crafter, and will do them on each of two other toons that I log in with that day. PC with LazyWrit takes about 5 min for each (slightly longer for my crafter as he decons everything my other two didn't sell), including stable and selling trash.

PC, no addons. Two servers, 15 characters total-- 7 on one server, 8 on the other.

I cycle through all of my characters twice a day to process mail from my crafting assistants, which takes about 25 minutes on a good day, or a bit longer if I have to log in and out a few times to force the mail on any given character, so nearly an hour per day just for checking the mail.

It takes roughly 5 minutes per character to grab writs, craft everything, turn it in, open rewards, sell ornate gear, deconstruct intricate gear, and bank recipes and surveys, so that's about 35 minutes on one server and 40 minutes on the other server, or about 75 minutes total. But in reality it takes a bit longer than that because of the time needed to log in and out of each character, as well as switching servers, all of which can vary from less than a minute to over a minute per character. Also, my main withdraws the recipes that all of my alts already knew and deposits them in a guild bank, so that's another few minutes per server. I generally allow myself 2 hours for crafting, just to be safe.

So checking the mail and doing the writs takes under 3 hours a day. But I want to play, so I often grab the writs on one day and wait until the next day to do 2 days, since it doesn't take that much longer to do 2 days in a row on each character. I usually do writs on my mains every day, and then play for several hours afterward, and wait until later to do writs on my alts. I often play on one server during one session, then later I'll play on the other server during another session, rather than trying to squeeze everything into a single session. That usually works out well in conjunction with checking the mail twice a day.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

1 main character, I don't bother with my alts any more. 0 minutes a day, I don't do any crafting unless I need to actually make something I need, I am maxed out on all crafting skill lines though. I also don't do any dailies or anything that I don't actually enjoy or want to do, I love questing and when I've done all the quests I play another game until the next content drop. I don't see the point in making my game a job, I am competing against nobody and that's the way I like playing ESO.

but this time of year.. meh to dungeon runs.
More interested in (cheerful!) holiday type stuff so aside from tickets, it's off to other game(s).

18 characters takes me an hour to do all 7 daily writs each, sometimes I collect one day and do two sets the next day which takes another 30 minutes at most; I dunno what you're doing for 3 hours. I don't empty the boxes until I have around 100+ and dump it all at once. I have cooking and alchemy pre-crafted in bulk of 100-200 each so I can auto complete those. On months I take a "break" I will also pre-craft everything else equal to 15 days worth, so its just log on and turn in immediately.

Edit: PC, no crafting addons. game is installed on an M.2 NVMe SSD so it cuts down on loading screens by a lot.

It varies between none at all, about 10 minutes and several hours.

I'm on PC and my only crafting related mod is one I can't remember the name of which lets you click the text for style, material etc. to get an alphabetical drop-down list of the options instead of having to scroll through all of them.

I only craft on 1 character who does the daily writs if it's convenient for me and then about once a month or so does a big load of master writs. Of course I'll occasionally craft other things for my characters or other people, but not that often.

I don't craft on all my other characters partially because I cannot be bothered and partially because I play slowly and my free time is unpredictable so I often have to stop in the middle of a delve or something and it would be annoying to have to pull them out of that to do writs then go all the way back afterwards.

I used to do all the daily writs every day on my crafter, but I found that on days when I didn't have much time it was taking up a big chunk of the time I did have, so I never got to do anything else (especially since it would always include deconstructing spare equipment, sorting out the bank and listing stuff in the guild store as well) so I started skipping them if I didn't have much time or didn't feel like it.

If you think it takes too much time I definitely recommend stopping or cutting back and I can assure you nothing bad happens as a result. The only problem I've had is if I also skip deconstructing drops and sorting the bank out for several days in a row I run out of bank space (especially since I don't have ESO+ so the bank can quickly fill with materials if I don't keep them organised) but those two aren't really related, I'd just chained them into one routine so it was fairly simple to keep up one without the other.

    Xbox, so no add-ons here.

It depends. If I'm feeling motivated or have the time, I do about 5 or 6. Only takes about 20 minutes now since they introduced the change to craft for quest only.

But some days I do zero. I tend to find more motivation after I make a build for PvP and gold everything out though.

PS NA so no add-ons for me. Craft once a week for the week. Takes around 95-100 spaces not counting pre-crafting food and alchemy items required. On days I craft it takes about 3 hours. Other days it takes around an hour or so on days I pickup and turn in.

Really wish they would add and auto open containers as an option. It would say a lot of button pushing and time.

Agree with Sarannah, always thought it funny that ZOS allows add-ons that play the game for you in some area’s but not in others. Anything that automats a process for you or save you from having to press a button or scroll thru a menu is playing the game for you.

But who am I to judge I wish that would add it so I don’t have to press so many buttons either and if I could use add-ons on the PlayStation to make crafting easier I would do it. Really wish ZOS would allow add-ons for ESO the same way Bethesda does for Skyrim on consoles.

Heck even our creative director doesn’t even use the built-in ability timers but continues to use add-on’s which from the looks of it are vastly superior to one ZOS built. Such is the like of console players, but I digress.

Stay safe and happy Holidays :)

I have stopped doing daily writs as of a few months ago, once I had more than enough gold saved, one day I just snapped just could not be bothered doing it anymore won't bother with it till I am low on savings, was only keeping it up so I had something to sell in my trade guilds.

When I was doing it, it would be a bit over an hour a day doing the daily writs on 18 characters and sorting listing stuff in my trade guilds.

Only add on related to it was lazy writ crafter.

I have a crafter that makes my gear, one for jewelry, and a provisioner/alchemist. The Jeweler I am still leveling, but he's on his final trait. Man, that's a slow one. I also have a couple toons outside of that who are certified for writs, so I can pull them out for events.

Anyway. I just funnel drops to them for decon. Outside of that, I use them when I need a new suit, or want them to learn a motif/style/blueprint/whatever.

It is more utilitarian for me, but I do love crafting. Always have. All the games I've played I've been self-sufficient in that way.

But..time each day? Zero. I use TraitBuddy, and that's about it.

18 characters right now (used to do 36).

I do them while playing another game that I can semi-AFK for as well right now.

The rewards are worth any time spent, crafting has been the way that I've afforded to pay for every motif in the game, every furnishing plan in the game, every recipe (with the exception of the 150% war torte), every gold-purchasable house, every event collectible (those that can be bought with gold if I didn't get lucky with drops).

There is no better (or easier) way to make millions than to do writs.

Takes about 75 minutes while doing the AFK stuff in the other game now.

When doing all 36 and just doing writs, I could get all 36 done in about 60 minutes (running two instances of the game at once) and swapping while in loading screens
