Greetings,
I decided to write this post in order to make some suggestions concerning the game. I am 38 years old and gaming is my life. I have played numerous games including almost all MMOs, so after filtering the pros and cons I am writing this post. Here we go.
I think the Elder Scrolls Franchise is fantastic. I love them all. The stories, the atmosphere but most of all the way they make you feel, the immersion. Unfortunately, when it comes to an MMO these are not enough for a game to succeed. I will analyze thoroughly every topic that follows. I think the game needs the following changes and/or implementations.
1. Different weapon animations
It is really ugly to watch a sword swinging left, right, left, right, left all the time. It totally ruins the fun. Different attack animations should be implemented for each and every weapon at least for a chain of 3 hits for light and heavy attacks separately.
2. Drop the set system
The set system should go down the drain asap for the following reasons:
a. Only Tinkerbell is missing as a 5set bonus
b. Game masters are spending way too much time brainstorming new 5 set bonuses when at this point there aren't any new!
c. Performance drops with too many lights, effects etc
d. The lifespan of the game is limited cause the set system leads to a dead end.
My suggestion is to switch to a normal attribute system so that all the exact opposites mentioned before will be accomplished. Better performance due to easier math checks, fewer work hours, endless lifespan cause numbers can just be improved each and every time, whenever something new launches, on every expansion etc. The idea is that sets are the rare loot to acquire and non set items are the standard loot and not the other way around that exists today.
3. Calendar
The game needs asap an in-game calendar where all guilds may program trials, all global game events will be visible etc. It is mandatory.
4. Mythic+ Vet Dungeons
At this point for the average player, Vet Dungeons are a walk in the park. The loot is also a joke after a point. You may loot what you need on 1000CP and then there is no point in running them. A scaling difficulty +1 +2 +3, along with scaling loot, should be implemented. This way players will spend endless hours trying to improve their gear just with a couple of friends. In order for this to be accomplished sets have to disappear from the face of Nirn.
5. Cooldowns (probably casting times as well on specific spells)
It is pure noobishness for a player (especially in PvP) failing to cast a spell on the specific timing and then having the chance to spam it again. Or spam his best nuke spell again and again and again until he runs out of resources (where in some cases no1 runs out of resources). It is childish and absolutely NOT tactical. Cooldowns should be implemented and from that day true tactics and skills will emerge. IF you fail on the timing of each and every spell -> death. This is where the skill lies. Not between spamming bitting jabs.
6. Inventory
The grid inventory means grid inventory. My point is that we should be able to move items freely on the grid and put them wherever we want. The list is just not user-friendly.
7. Threat System
Tanks are a joke. You end up spamming puncture like a madman. Is this tanking skill? Puncture the boss and then chill for 15 secs cause you have the agro locked??? 11 ppl are nuking the boss's brains out and the tank just "punctures"????? Oh, i forgot. You also have to dodge the red things on the ground... Yeah... Great... A new serious threat system should be implemented.
8. Trials
Trials have seen improvements since game launch no doubt but they are still lacking challenging mechanics IMO.
9. PvP
Healing should be nerfed. Paladin's "lay on hands" is crying when it sees ppl going from like 5% HP to 95% in a split second.
10. Finally I would like to mention the shield bash animation which IMO is WAY too fast and immersion breaking. It just doesn't seem right to swing a shield that fast into someone's face.
I strongly believe that even one of these suggestions is implemented, the impact will be great.
The Franchise is so strong that it is a pity not being the best MMORPG in the world cause it lacks certain systems/mechanics.
