Assuming you have it double-barred so it doesn't despawn when you barswap, sounds like maybe some kind of addon issue.
Never experienced pets vanishing outside the Warden Bear when I was running all over the countryside and (I assume) it couldn't figure out pathing to me.

Most of my toons don't have anything on the back bar, I rarely use it, I'm not that versatile, but I'll turn off addons for a while and see if it matters.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Yes. Sorc pets de-spawn in random area's throughout the game. Craglorn has an area like this. This bug? Has existed since release.

Just for clarity: The Sorcerer pets and Warden bear behave differently from most skills. They need to be on both your front and back bar to ensure they're 'permanent'.
If you have the Twilight Matriarch on your front bar, but not also somewhere on your back bar -- it will unsummon itself once you switch to backbar.
If you have Twilight Matriarch slotted somewhere on both your front bar and back bar, then it will say out regardless of which bar you switch to. Same for the imp pet/clannfear, and the Warden's bear summon ultimate (has to be your ultimate on both bars to stay permanent).
Very few people intentionally put those pets on only one of their two bars.
