What is the timer on dungeon boss loot?

I'm farming public dungeons and am seeing some odd drops from the bosses. There is an area where three bosses are very close together. I thought there was a timer that prevented you from getting item drops from bosses killed one after another. So I've been waiting a couple minutes between kills.

This morning, however, I killed two within about 20 seconds of each other and got an item drop from each. But I killed a third about a minute later and got nothing but gold.

How exactly does this work?

If I recall correctly, you can get 2 boss drops every 5 minutes.

Thanks! That make sense. I thought it was 1 every 3 minutes but I haven't played in a couple years so maybe there was a change...or I never understood it!
