As a healer (Real one) I <3 fake tanks

Gives me something to do. When I heal, nobody dies. That’s my thing. I like the chaos with mobs, doesn’t bother me. What does, however, is when nothing ever dies. I’d prefer bosses and mobs to melt, as opposed to terrible dps that can not do their job which is to kill things. Sorry, not going to sit in any content way longer than it needs to be just to make you feel better. You won’t die, I won’t let you, but I got things to do so let’s burn and be done with it.

Fake tanks carry on. I appreciate you. (Just burn at least) Fake dps on the other hand…..? Ugh. Just a change of pace, flame on.

Are you gonna out-heal a boss with a mechanic that will one-shot anyone without 30k health? Methinks you're a touch biased and / or do not play vet content.

The whole discussion of fake tanks is way more complicated than people think, I myself am a fan of "budget tanking" I will hold aggro of bosses and just burn everything on my dps build, it works for me for every normal dungeon in the game(probably works for anyone that can complete vMA or vVH) normal content is soloable for a lot of people and having to wait for 30 minutes to do something you can do by yourself is just unreasonable.

Some people (me) can take tank base game dungeons just fine, and the people that can't are usually ones that don't know what they're doing (and probably won't continue queuing for ver as a fake tank), the whole fake tank being a super common thing happens in normal dungeons.

Depending on the dungeon and difficulty,I mostly prefer to have 3 dds with me and me being healer. It is way faster than with a tank. The only times I prefer to have a normal group of 2DD 1H 1T is when I do vet dlc dungeons.
But then again I dont do those with random people anymore because it is too time consuming,I prefer to do them with friends.

Nice good for you, but that wasn't my point. The whole "fake tank" thing happens everywhere and is not a problem at all in normal content. It is a problem in vet. More importantly, a healer cannot out-heal a one-shot mechanic, which was my point.

It’s a little aggrivating when bosses keep circling the room out of the AOE abilities though

Maybe I just don't queue for dungeons as much as you then because I've rarely ever gotten a fake tank in vet, fake dps on the other hand are everywhere when I'm on my tank(seriously I can do more damage y spamming light attacks than some people out there).

I've never seen fake tanks in veteran dungeons. Even if there are, I suspect they get vote kicked quick if it's not a base game dungeon.

There are no unavoidable one-shot mechanics in normal, aside from pin mechanics.

Do people just not queue for vet in this forum? It happens all the time. And, again, I'm not talking about normals.

    Also, it's not a vote-kick-replace scenario. It's a vote-kick-wait-leave scenario in vet.

I've been pugging vet pledges by myself for a while now on my latest DD character. Even pugged vFL hm today (HM took a few tries tho, I hate the ghost walls there). Never seen fake tanks in those. Hmm, maybe it's the time I usually play at. (earlier than prime time in PC-EU)

Why would I take the boss out of aoe? I don't need to run like a headless chicken if I can block or roll dodge (while maintaining the bosses position).

Tbh, fake tanking is really easy like, inner fire and leash are avail for anyone, just you know? Slot it and everyone’s happy. Dungeon goes fast, pulls are faster cause they’e stacked, you won’t get kicked. Easy peesy

When I'm on my heals, I want someone to slot a taunt. But I prefer that taunt be on someone who's built mostly for DPS on a random normal. Mostly because it's more likely to result in a decent pace.

As one healer to another OP-Couldn’t agree more. I love the fake tanks. They come in and nuke stuff as they are usually farming. Nothing worse than being stuck with so called dps that hits like a fly. Gimme the fake tanks all day.

If a fake tank dies in a normal, it will be from a heavy attack one-shot that they didn't block, which can't be out-healed anyway. If you like more damage, then slot damage skills, even as a healer, the faster stuff dies=less need for heals.

Spindle 2 has a wipe on fail DPS check. Granted, it's DPS calibrated around 2014 expectations (around 5-10k total), but it is there and will wipe the group, even on normal, if the group damage is poor enough.

There are a ton of one tap and die mechanics in Normal DLC dungeons, but that's just low hanging fruit. A smart player won't see them, a dumb one will stand in stupid and start crying for a soul gem.

Though, really, there are no unavoidable one shot mechanics in the game. Every single piece of content can, potentially, be cleared without a death.

    As a healer I don't agree.

First off now it's on me to debuff the boss. Then potentially slot agro fire and a shield to heal and tank now

Yeah, that's not a fake tank. Fake tanks are the DPS with no CC or taunt, who take a dirt nap on the first trash pull, and blame the healer when the boss heavies them for 68k.

My experience is consistent with yours. I'm on PS4-NA.

My biggest problem with fake tanks is that (on vet, at least) they (or whoever winds up with aggro) kite bosses out of AoE, resulting in a net loss of DPS, almost regardless of how much they contribute themselves.

Not much angers me more than throwing out a heavy damage supercharge while healing and some idiot is running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off and moving the boss out of it. Happens more than half the time. Instant kick if it happens more than once. It’s like, dude, your health is not moving, and we are trying to kill the boss and you’re acting like we’re about to wipe. Just an issue with too many terrible players. I have a few ‘real’ tanks and keep the bosses in one spot as much as possible and keep them in dps aoe. I am an average tank but you would think I was the GOAT due to how many whispers I get to tank stuff since there is a massive influx of terrible ones out there.
