Keep in mind it’s the only way to get two purple ingredients, Frost Mirriam and Brevez Juice so unless you plan to always buy what you need from traders you’ll need the provisioning ones. Also it pays off for the rest as well but eventually you’ll have more skill points than you know what you do with but early on you gotta be more selective.

From what I remember (not done it in a while), but think the writs give them, no?

I actually prefer to get survey maps over master writs, except for Alch/Ench/Prov, for which those Master Writs are great for leveling skills on alts.

The more you have, the more often you collect, the high level they are, the better it gets.
With my pack of characters, two main ones and eight retired miscellaneous odds and ends, between them they bring in a staggering amount of raw materials.
To be honest it’s worth it for the food alone, just craft it all up into five gold recipes and dump it on the nearest in game merchant, don’t even bother with the guild store.
It’s worth it for that alone, when combined with surveys the only raw materials you should have any need to go out and find are mushrooms, mud crab chitin and jewellery stuff
To be honest it’s still puzzles me why people bother to buy gold upgrade materials of any of the professions. Between hirelings and especially crafting writs I’m churning out that stuff at a rate so far beyond my ability to use it it’s almost comical
