Psijic portals dropping standard rune node loot

I have noticed that lately, psijic portals are often (about half the time) dropping just the standard set of runes, as if you were looting a normal rune node. I can't bet on it, but the impression I got is it was mostly happening in Blackwood and Deadlands (though possibly because that's where I spend most of the time).

They've always done that, because they replace enchanting nodes, the same way that jewelry replaces blacksmithing. It's just RNG if you actually get gear or not.

^ This. Someone already partially looted it taking the good stuff and leaving the runes there.

There should be a mechanic that just despawns the portal if someone takes the good stuff IMO.

I have a related question, are Psijic portals super rare in the Deadlands or are they just getting farmed heavily?

I am spending a lot of time there, farming for the enchanting table lead, looking for runestones, and have only seen maybe 2 Psijic portals so far, both only had runes in them too.

The psijic portals in the new zone seem to be just glorified enchant nodes. I don't think this is a case of cherry picking as it's on a 100% rate from what I've seen. Even with insane amounts of cherrypickers, you'd think you might find a fresh portal at some point or they would at least take the Kuta I find often enough.

I agree. Yesterday I was in the Deadlands when a psijic portal spawned just in front of me, no other players around, and still I got only runes.

Nope. It happens with freshly spawned portals. And I kept track since, and NO portal in Deadlands or Blackwood has dropped anything except runes for me.

Are you also picking up the regular enchanting nodes? The Psijic Portals can only spawn from the runestone spots, so if people are only grabbing portals and not runestone nodes, eventually there are less.

I've seen it often enough in Craglorn, where I'm not finding portals, but when I re-run the route, the portals spawned behind me because I was clearing all the enchanting nodes. If you've got a farming route in the Deadlands, it might be worth retracing your steps sometimes after you've picked up runestones in an area and seeing if any spots respawned as portals?

Yeah, I said I was looking for runestone nodes for the enchanting table lead, so I was farming those.

I just commented that, in addition, I have only seen 2 Psijic portals ever.
