Urgent Potion Shop-Fix Needed

LilouAndJohn
I have been playing ESO for well over a year together with my wife, and ... first of all, fantastic game with a cornucopia of things to do.

BUT ... there is one great problem we've run into now that I've given away all my dragon blood & bile to wifey for potions. They appear in the list when she's selling stuff to a merchant, even though they are assigned to a quick-slot, and she normally sells all those potions she finds.

You get the problem? Wifey crafts potions. Wifey sells looted potions. Wifey tries to use crafted potion. Wifey gets mad, hubby gets sad.

It has probably been discussed over and over before, but I say it again: let players lock everything so those potions we make for our lovely yet triggerhappy wives aren't sellable.

All these poor dragons we've slain, so much innocent life wasted for nothing but coin makes us herbivores feel sick. And it makes wifey a real cranky wifey, which makes hubby a real dull hubby.

Could you fix this, ZOS? Or does anybody have a great, astonishingly superb idea on how to solve it in any other way?

She will do it again. And again. And again. And again. Poor dragons. Poor hubby.

I've often wished we could lock potions and food items, I'd love it if ZOS would give us the means to lock everything. Especially looted or crafted furnishings- anything that has value to us.

If you are on PC, there is an addon called Auto Category. With it you can define your own categories. It is even possible to have different category setups for different locations (inventory, bank, home storage, guild bank, craft bag, crafting stations, etc...)

If you are not on PC, check and see if you can "lock" the potions similar to "locking" gear. If you can lock the potions, then they won't be available to sell.

Other trying to be more vigilant, I am out of ideas.

Better yet, FCO Itemsaver, mark those potions as no sell.

PC is like MacGyver, there is a fix for everything, at least from an XBox One perspective. Thanks for trying to help me but we're on console. ZOS should prioritize this. They can even call it the Big Epic Hubby Patch.

Being able to lock potions would be a good idea. However i dont see it as a high priority. Your issue is basically that your wife is blindly selling stuff without looking at it and you call upon the devs to put out a fix for her behaviour.

There is an addon on PC that colour codes potions. Looted potions are white, 1-stat crafted are green, 2-stat crafted are blue and 3-stat crafted are purple.

That should be in the default UI and would avoid that problem.

When I'm selling potions, I always stare right at the tooltip to see if a name pops up. A name popping up means that I crafted it (it usually is my crafter toon's name). No name means looted.

I don't use any add ons that change my potion/item tooltip, so I am hoping (assuming?) that a crafter name also shows up on console as well. It might be a solution, if that helps.

Without addons I look at stack sizes, most of my crafted potions and poisons are 50-200 stack, for bulk crafting writ dailies, all the looted potions are never more than a dozen. They also likely appear with the new item icon when selling to vendors so I can always pick them out.

Thanks for your advice, I will try them out. Life finds a way. Maybe I'll just teach her some clairvoyant skills.

Even using addons to mark my potions, I still look to see if my name appears on one before selling, guess I made to many mistakes in the past and am paranoid. :).

I see your point on locking consumables, however there IS a buyback up to a certain number of items sold. Maybe wifey needs to pay a modicum of attention and she can buyback her mistakes. Locking of consumables seems to me like it would be harder to implement than the rest of you think, and the simpler and more effective method would be to simply pay attention.

Yesterday I looted a dwemer housing recipe worth about 10m gold and I have been so careful to not accidentally read it. It would be so nice to be able to lock it before I get around to selling it

I only ever sell stuff marked as junk and I use an add-on to automark additional things such as looted treasures as junk. (Bandits Gear Manager)
