It's seems that there isn't a reason to do hard mode for event rewards

This is my first "real" undaunted event. Last year, around this time, I did restart on XBOX, so I was low level and generally clueless.

Sooo, I thought that you had a very slim chance of getting a style page in the purple coffer in normal dungeons, higher in vets and guaranteed in vet hm. I think I'm confusing this with motifs, right? Anyway, it's definitely not the case with style pages it seems. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

I saw a (self-censored)-load of gold pages in guild stores, so I thought that there was a way to have them drop them more than once per day. Why so many pages are already circulating?!

Yesterday evening IC prison popped up twice in a row, did both times in hm: the first time I got the gold coffer, the second time, as expected, the purple one, which was quite underwhelming (provisioning ingredients + green treasure).

I don't want to sound entitled, but I was expecting a little bit more for harder content. Now I understand why people farm FG1 during the event!

The purple coffers are….underwhelming, to put it politely.

You only get one gold coffer a day, dungeon difficulty and hard modes don’t matter. The hard mode is for getting head style pages.

Ever since they changed the Undaunted event to opal pages, the rewards have been underwhelming. They used to have dungeon motifs and costumes and non-combat pets, even chances to get mounts and houses. Now I barely bother with them because I am personally not a fan of the opal pages at all.

I used to get so excited for this event but now it's not worth grinding dungeons at all. I'll just do my random normal like I do every other day of the year. That will pretty much cover it.

The reason there are so many pages on the traders is because people have them from previous events, and if they have plenty of inventory space they hang onto them hoping to make a killing when people can't get them to drop.

The purple coffers of most events are "disappointing" to a lot of players compared to what the players were hoping for, but the purple coffers can contain some nice stuff-- just not of the calibre that a lot of players would like them to be.

For instance, when I turned in one of Bolgrul's daily delve quest and he gave me a purple coffer, it contained 1 Undaunted Key in addition to a style mat, which I thought was pretty cool, since those daily quests don't usually award a key. But it was RNG, because the next one I handed in to him didn't give out an Undaunted Key.

In my opinion there's very little incentive for the end game players to do... well.. endgame.

Most of the gold is earned in overland (mats, fragments, dailies) and most alliance points are earned in zergs.
Tickets are earned doing the easiest content also.

I sometimes wish the game would do something extra for the endgame community.

If you mean the set item, then vet is enough. Hm grants you 2 undaunted keys for the regular undaunted daily, iIrc.

This is not an "Undaunted" event. They should just rename it to fungal grotto 1 event. Other than the few dungeons that drop opal masks, this event does nothing to encourage the players to exprience the undaunted dungeons. Why try to do the harder dungeons when you can farm fungal grotto 1 in minutes over and over again and get the same rewards

The reason for doing "other" dungeons is that you get them as undaunted pledges.

When the event started I already had Wayrest Sewers lined up so I did that, got the gold goodies, handed it in, checked out the pledge givers and picked up Tempest Island - nice and quick, and easy to solo... so I went off and did Tempest Island as a pledge, got the purple goodies, handed in the pledge.

And that's when the problem starts, when I checked out the purple goodies...

20 bars of platinum and 20 minnows.

There is little point in doing anything but a short dungeon for the "Glorious" box und the tickets. The other "rewards" are complete trash but require doing another dungeon. Why bother?

Daily pledges has nothing to do with the event, they are not exclusive to the event, people do them for keys and transmutes whether it's a normal day or during the event. Now the thing that is exclusive to the event are the boxes and they are the same whether you do a vet dungeon or spam fungal grotto 1. So if someone wants to play for the event rewards, he would just spam fungal grotto because it's by far the best method and it's not even close

HM is for the Opal masks from selected dungeons. You can buy the matching shoulders from undaunted vendors. Gold boxes are once a day per account per server. If you can run FG1 on 2nd account that's 2 a day. Purple boxes drop from final bosses therafter plus you can get one a day per account per server for doing Bolgrul's daily quest.

I know, but if you are doing the pledge in any case...

I'd have thought that the idea would be to get people to do the pledges... to be undaunted! It's the undaunted event, right?

And get 20 platinum ( < 1% of my reserve) and TWENTY minnows!!!!

I don't see where this event does anything to get folks to further participate in the Undaunted line, beyond their normal daily stuff. With the exception of those wanting more purple boxes, which as been pointed out, simply means speed running FG1 over and over.... which is not very undaunted really, unless they are referring not being daunted by the mind numbing repetition of doing that.

I really wish that for, you know, Undaunted event you'd actually have to do something, well...daunting? Like a vet hm dungeon. Or a vet hm dlc dungeon even. But in reality your best bet is normal FG1, which is sorta...meh I mean, I can and I will run vet dlc's and vet dlc's hm's just because I like them but it'd be nice to feel a little more love towards such activities at least during an event dedicated to dungeons.

Not sure why it seems the rewards are mostly junk this event. Am I mistaken in thinking the rewards were better it the past Undaunted events?

I have gotten the same Opal page twice since this event started, (its only been 3 days) and it is one that I already had from last year. So I guess that these are not part of the new RNG.

They will never make an event that rewards endgame or harder content. Even if it was just one event a year that would just result in the same problem we have with the midyear mayhem event. A large population of the player base complaining that the rewards are locked behind content they can't or don't want to do.

This will result in equal rewards being available from an easier or alternative option which everyone will just do instead.

Instead, I would much prefer an event that rewarded anything other than cosmetics. It seems like a lot of players farm these events to sell the cosmetics on traders for gold to buy the things they actually need. Maybe its gold mats, stacks of pots or food. How about a chance at some of those gear set boxes or one guaranteed in each gold box. I'd grind dungeons for that.
