I know what doesn't: Delve Bosses, Public Dungeon Bosses (group boss or not), Deadlands Portal Bosses, Dolmen Bosses...

Apparently.. they really need to tweak these endeavor descriptions, because to my knowledge, there is actually only one type of boss labeled group boss, and that's in public dungeons.

I remember first seeing the term "group boss" used on UESP a few years ago to refer to what all the players kept calling a "world boss," and I'm pretty sure UESP wouldn't have just pulled the term out of the air and decided to use it in defiance of the term all the players use. I just concluded that this is another one of those instances where the playerbase uses a generic MMO term that everybody uses in ESO because it's used in other MMOs even though ESO actually calls it something else.
Public dungeons don't have "group bosses"; they have "group events" that have one or more bosses associated with them, but they are not called "group bosses." In a similar vein, the bosses in "group delves" are not called "group bosses," nor are any of the bosses in "group dungeons."

Agreed. I went to a public dungeon thinking that was it and killed the boss twice, nope. Then finished an actual dungeon to get the other endeavor. No boss credit though. Being there are so many "group" designated type of bosses in this case a simple, and arguably proper wording change to "world boss" would certainly saved a bit of time and confusion for players and clear things up. At least we know the alternative name now.

Except my best guess is that ESO has always called them "group bosses," which is why UESP "officially" calls them that, and it is the playerbase who insists on using an alternative name which was taken from other MMOs. I don't know that that's the case, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it is.

I hear ya. The game itself should be the most reliable form of information though -- not a website imho. I have always found it strange that unofficial 3rd party resources regarding ESO have been the most reliable over the actual game which does an "OK" job of these types of details but could do better hopefully in the future, especially for new players. Over the years I have played, even the devs themselves (and on their announcement pages) have always referred to them as "world bosses". It's what I always thought they were called too, until today. A confusing technicality and possibly just a simple oversight at worst.SeaGtGruff wrote: »scorpius2k1 wrote: »redlink1979 wrote: »New fancy name for a world boss. lol

The kill X powerful/dangerous enemies is another one, but as far as I can tell, anything but an overland common mob seems to count for it, so not really an issue.
