It's the season to give thanks--how about expressing that through housing? Make a build that shows something or somethings you are thankful for.

While I normally emphasize creativity for my contests, I don't want that to get in the way of sincerity, so make whatever speaks to your gratitude.

Prizes: 5,000,000g split evenly among all PC entrants. One Devoted Torchbug pet code drawn randomly among console entrants, plus 10 Moo Prize Tokens (tinyurl.com/jhartprizes) for all console entrants.

HOW TO ENTER:

Three ways to enter:

1) Send an in-game mail on PC/NA or PC/EU to @JHartEllis. Please specify that you are entering the Thankfulness event, and please specify the area of your entry if it's not obvious. A brief description or backstory would be welcome.

2) Message JHartEllis on Discord. You're welcome to join our Spicy housing community at https://discord.gg/Xm3mGDfDBy

3) If you're on Xbox or Playstation, post a screenshot in this thread along with a description. These posts will be shared during the stream as well.

Make sure JHartEllis has Visitor access for the PC tours. It is not necessary to set the submission home as your primary, and you do not need to be present. It will help with organization to enter early even if not 100% done. If you have EHT FX, publish them to the community or mail them in-game to JHartEllis

Is there a deadline for this? Saturday? Would love to participate as a console person. I won't get home until tomorrow night though so I'm quite behind. ^^;

Preferably Saturday by 1pm ET, though the stream format will be fairly accommodating to late entries, but not past the end of the stream.

Since this is a "non-contest" that encourages participation, well I faced a conundrum. I technically have more than one build to show as part of this concept. This is on Xbox NA, but also on the PTS. You'll see why in a moment. (I hope I don't get disqualified.)

My theme for "Thankfulness":

I am thankful for my best friend, Holy Darkness66. My world would not be so bright and colorful without him. He plays ESO with me, and my main character, a Breton woman named Larinara, is married to his orc character named Zurogash. He means the world to her, and this reflects in her design sense in their homes. This is my way of giving back to him.

This is Zurogash and Larinara together. They visited Nuzhimeh's house for Thanksgiving.


Earthtear Cavern is our player home. Darkness is not a designer or really much into housing himself, but out of all the homes at the time, he said he liked Earthtear the most. I took a shine to it, and so that is where Lari and her husband live happily. Much of it showcases their adventures, the dungeons they've faced, and the places they've been.


But the game has changed much since then and added many pretty new furnishings. For months I have been setting to work on a project to redesign the perfect home for them, because even though he never asked me to, he cares for me and I care for him, and I love to make things for him. The project isn't done, but I wanted to show you some insight into this project. I am constantly going through rough drafts on the PTS and asking myself "What would be the perfect mix between a Breton home and an Orcish home?" It's difficult, hence all the drafts.

With the Deadlands furnishings I will finally work on it on the Live server. I hope it will turn out well.

"Memoir Manor"

This is the front walkway. I have many fond memories of placing these hedges along the way.

The front gate of the garden. I love the light beams Earthtear casts on shiny Clockwork trees. A friend of mine helped me discover that.


This is my crafting table workshop. The nightmare wolf is one of his favorite mounts, so I had a fun idea to have it light the flames.


The garden. We have a pet Chokethorn named Audrey that we keep out here. It became a running joke back when my main was a warden healer running Chokethorn. Whenever it'd heal one of my friends, they'd say, "Thank you, Audrey." Needless to say I was ecstatic when Murkmire made them into a furnishing. Audrey is home.

The front of the house. It has gone through many changes, but one thing stays the same. I made this house out of Orcish Brazier, Pillars because I wanted it to look like it had Orcish architecture, and made big windows because I love the views Earthtear has.

The living room. I fashioned it after memories I had of a lodge I stayed in when I was younger. The Divines sigils are because Lari is a Priestess of Arkay.


The adjoining hallway leading into their son's room. He's an avid PvPer, so I thought it'd be nice to decorate it a bit like an armory. He has brothers, but they've moved out.

The laundry room, for immersion.

The adjacent kitchen. It also has a pantry but I forgot to snap a screenshot of that.

The backyard area. Figured it'd be nice to have a place to sit outside, considering the views in Earthtear are so beautiful. The seat at the back is a nice seat for two, and I figured with benches it'd be easier to accommodate a large family.

The stairwell and library past the kitchen. I wanted a reading nook where they could comfortably read. The stairs are the first thing I laid out in the interior of the home. They're fully functional (don't have to jump).

Past the library is the bathroom with a view of a bridge in the backyard.



The second floor main room. There's a painting of a bear because Lari is a warden who always has her beloved bear named Beary by her side. Zurogash is also fond of bears, and even rides one as his mount.



The adjoining Mage's tower. The seat has fantastic views past the boundaries of the property, and the throne gives forced perspective.

A "his and her" study.

Their bedroom. I wanted a mix of Orc and Breton in here, so I cobbled two beds together. The pets are their two favorites. There's an old crib in here which used to showcase a very rare triptych painting, but it's currently in a museum. (It's possibly one of the most valuable things I own.)
