Upgrading Friend's ESO game

Hello all! I have a question that's been kind of confusing for me.
I currently own all chapters and pay for ESO+, so I currently have access to everything, but I recently got 3 friends (well, 1 friend, then he brought 2 friends with him) to play ESO as well.

One of those friends actually has played ESO wayyyy back, so he actually doesn't have Vvardenfell! But the other two do, because their copy of ESO is newer.

The trouble is, I'd like to help all 3 upgrade to Blackwood, while also getting all previous chapters. This is where things get murky I noticed.
How should they upgrade their game? They all run the steam version I believe (as do I) if that matters.
I heard the base 'Blackwood upgrade' doesn't give the previous chapters, is that true? And if so, what's the cheapest way to go about upgrading? They don't really care about like, the collector's cosmetics or anything, they just want the chapters.
And no, they don't really like the idea of subbing to ESO+ so that's out of the question.

Any help and guidance on this would be appreciated!
Hoping for more playable races.

I just want werewolf to be viable in endgame PvE T.T (which not allowed according to PTS update 50)

Get the version called Collection: Blackwood.

It's more expensive than the upgrade of course but it includes Morrowind, Summerset, Elseweyr and Greymoor as well as Blackwood and according to the description includes the warden and necromancer classes, whereas buying the chapters from the crown store requires you to get the classes separately.

If they want the DLC as well they'll have to either buy it from the crown store or get ESO+, there's no version of the game which includes it.

Sorry for the language that is Danish, but this is what pops up when I search for ESO on Steam

    blackwoodsteam.JPG

It says: "Buy The Elder Scrolls Online Blackwood

(and then it says it includes Blackwood, Greymoor, Elweyr, Summerset and Morrowind chapters)

so in that case, that is the one I'd buy for the chapters for the friends

as for things like Thieves guild, and Dark brotherhood, Wrothgar etc. I think you can still buy from crownstore even if you are on Steam

Yeah we're mostly talking about the chapters, the DLCs we've been getting slowly but surely with gold as I teach them how to get stuff that sells good on the market.

Yikes, is there no cheaper way than 60USD? I know the chapters are big and all but that's still ouch. I think that's more than I paid to preorder Blackwood.

Just be a little careful on the page. Steam has 2 pages, one for the base game, which contains 4 options : the base game, Elder Scrolls Online - Blackwood, Crown Packs and for ESO+ subscription.

However, you will be redirected to the page for Blackwood which actually has 4 options too: The Blackwood Upgrade, the Blackwood CE Upgrade, Elder Scrolls Online - Blackwood, and Elder Scrolls Online - Blackwood CE. On Steam, it isn't actually referred to as the Collection when selecting the options, but at the description towards the bottom of the page, it is referred to as the Collection.

The Upgrade options only provide Blackwood, whereas the other 2 will have a short description below their respective "Add to carts", so you'll want to look out for the ones that do say "Includes the previous Chapters". It's a very common occurrence that happens.

Also, you can try waiting a little, there typically is a sale towards the end of the year, but it's not something I can guarantee.

Also worth noting that you don't have to buy it on steam. If you buy a code they can apply it on the eso account linked to their steam account and it will upgrade correctly. Steam won't say they own blackwood, but they'll still have it when they login through steam and they'll also be able to login without steam. So you can shop around for the best price, though during sales the price is usually the same everywhere.

Steam keys can be bought through third party vendors, and you can find current best offers for steam keys from authorised third party vendors by using the service named "isthereanydeal".

If you're teaching them how to earn in-game gold, then they're using the in-game gold to buy the DLCs, then the cheapest way for them to upgrade would be to get the Blackwood upgrade, and buy the other chapters as DLCs with in-game gold. That will take longer for them to make enough gold for, of course-- and they'd also have to buy things like the Warden and Necromancer classes separately-- but it would be the absolute cheapest route.
