Overland Chests Broken?

So opened a master chest in the Shambles in the new Deadlands DLC. All I got out of it was 91 gold, one non-set blue item and one soul shard. I'm at CP 1500+ and have points in the treasure hunter line. First time I have ever gotten such a crap reward from a master chest. Is this a know bug?

Seems like a thing since the adjusted the chest loot a while back I think? I used to always get a purple set item and a blue possible set item from a master chest. Lately I am lucky to get one blue item, with CP in it as well, I feel honored when graced with a purple item.. I basically stopped farming chests, which was probably their intent.

It's a new zone. It's possible it's bugged. My chests have all seemed fine so far, but if it's isolated to master chests, an issue might not be seen by too many people yet.

Similarly, I've harvested probably 5 - 7 psijic portals in the new zone and none of them have had any gear pieces or motifs at all. Not seeing any motifs in that small a number is to be expected, but no gear at all seems a bit off. Just runes and the occasional infused style fragment.

Did you had to pick the lock or was it already open?

Some players open the chests but loot only the interesting parts.

I'm gonna take an educated guess and say that OP had to force/pick the lock.

The rating pertains to the lock itself; once successfully bypassed a chest is just a chest, there is no 'rating'.

Master chests have been giving junk for a while now. I haven't notice that zone makes a difference.

I've frequently gotten just a green piece of gear and some gold, and I *always* pick the locks for the XP.
I'm not willing to give up the XP by forcing a lock.

Check your CPs. They did a rollback last night and removed all the CPs from their slots in the whole playerbase. I noticed when I opened a chest a got trash as well.

Not so sure about that. My thunter - who has opened thousands of chests - has the passive to force open master chests almost always on the first or second try, so I don't bother with manually opening the locks when I'm on that character. I don't know about Deadlands, but I've always gotten the expected two set gear pieces that way, usually one blue and one purple - same as if I'd opened manually

Or maybe like I did, you have not realized that your CPs did reset and you have for now no points on the boons related to chests content?

Because the few days after the patch, I was wondering why I get so poor content until I found out the CP reset... After re-distributing my CPs, things were back to normal.

Ok to answer a few of the responses - the chest was opened before the reset, I picked the lock and didnt force it. Additionally, I have opened MASTER chests since the reset and after re-allocating my points and still get shite (gold, a blue non-set item, a gem and if I'm really lucky - a super deluxe rare white enchant).

As far as the psijic portals are concerned, I agree. For the most part the y only contain runes.

It's the little things like this that rankle players. Just leave them as they were. Why the change?

I've gotten a lot of simple-level items from Master Chests for a long time. Occasionally, I get some items in purple.

Chest system needs rework, and even add a rare Ultimate Master Chest or something, where a Legendary item is inside it with at least 1500 gold, imo.

Old CP system had a bug with master chests.If you used better quaility cp,it would revert masters to like a intermediate.The old fix was remove the cp there,and the master's started giving more purples,but the other chests were back to low quality stuff.

Chests you can tell if someone opened them and picked through them because you have to pick/force the lock.

Psijic portals on the other hand, can be opened, picked through, and stuff left and you have no way to tell... I'm guessing the portals that pple have opened where there isn't much that this is the case.

If I open a portal and the amber fragment is still there I feel pretty sure it is untouched.

There should be an all or none system for looting.Would stop alot the bone in a chest,or 1 demina in portal,etc.If you wanna loot,make room for farming.

Yes, someone cherry-picked the good stuff.... Same as when you get only fish bait or bast etc. from cloth nodes.

Probably someone *without ESO+* cherry-picked the good stuff. Because with the subscription, you can pick up everything and it goes in the craft bag. Without the subscription, you have limited inventory space and can only afford to take the good stuff.

This happened. Sure thing.

It's a real annoyance that some people only take what they want - the interesting stuff, if any - and leave the rest be, with chests, psijic portals and thieves throves. They are too lazy to take everything and destroy what they do not need, and they have no social feeling whatsoever.

I know it's possible, but it only ever happens to me with runes.

This. I cant count how many times I am chest hunting and you find a chest with one or two trash items left in it. I find that rude.

Well, I never mind when someone leaves housing materials.... which happens fairly frequently actually.

I'm having the same problem with lockboxes, every 'master' one I open just has gold and green vendor trash, exactly the same as the simple locked ones. Some of them even just have gold in. Not sure if this is intended or not, but it's not worth the bounty lol.

I don't remember the loot ever matching the difficulty of the lockbox.

I’ve also noticed this happen at least three times in the last week, only gold and one green or blue rubedite equipment item. All chests were locked and two were intermediate or advanced.
