vAA Treasure chests

Hi Sifus,
Recently I joined a PUG vAA trial. The trial leader said I should not open the chest first. Wait for all to stand around before opening otherwise if I open/auto loot the rest after me will get an empty chest. I am confused. Leader said vAA is different unlike other trials. I am cp1950...treasure hunter is max out. Please comment.

Thank you very much for your kind understanding and cooperation.

I assume you are talking about the mage. There is no real gap between trash and boss, so some will get the chest, some will not. By the end of the Mage fight, the opened chest will despawn, so those that missed it, will not get it.

This applies to any chests that are opened and then left for a while, not just AA.

That is the only thing I can think he was talking about, otherwise, no, you don't need to all queue up for any chest.

Someone can come along and correct me, but I think despawn is around 5 minutes from opening/looting.

also, 1950 CP is not necessarily a guide. I have come across people with 1600cp+ that have never set foot in a trial.

Depends. If the entire group is not nearby then it can bug out. Mostly if someone is in a load screen or dced. Assuming vaa portals may count as seperate instances to some areas. So then those not in the instance of the chest opened may get no loot. Its a complicated system overall. So reducing the variables i would think.

The raid lead was wrong. Chests in vAA are the same as in every other trial.
However, he was right in telling you to stay away from the chests. It is common curtesy in vAA to leave the chests at the last boss unopened until the boss is dead. As @pklemming explained, there is no time between the trash pulls and the last encounter so if someone opens a chest and combat starts before everyone else had a chance to loot it, it will despawn. Same principle as in vHRC btw when the groups split up. The lower group should leave the chests untouched until the upper group arrives. Treasure hunter has nothing to do with it whatsoever.

Thanks for the feedback. Actually it was after beating the 1st Boss and then at the 1st Chest before teleport in to the next area.

Well in that case the call of the raid lead was total nonsense.
Some groups decide to leave all chests untouched until the last boss is dead to speed up things, so people can go and loot them afterwards if they really want to. But that is completely unrelated to any chest despawn myths. Maybe the raid lead had seen this before and thought it was somehow necessary due to some bug.

Only time I can think of to leave chests for last is on speed runs / weekly trial, which it is this week, and maybe that's why he was asking chests to be left for after. The time taken by a group to loot all chests and HS in a trial will negatively affect the final score.
