That’s for a whole new update and DLC.

It's for the release of Deadlands DLC, as well as a full base game update. It's not a "standard maintenance" downtime.

It's because Deadlands dlc releases and the update with the armory system and such.
But yea these maintenances get longer and longer, usually when new content came out it was a 8 hour maintenance thing not 11,let alone EU server which will be up in primetime again and literally everyone trying to login.

I don't want to call anything but I smell chaos...

This means that we can only get 24 / 26 tickets. Total botch - especially when trying to ensure enough tix for Doomchar frags.

Edit: reminder - maintenance happens an hour BEFORE reset.

Yea,if something goes wrong on any server and we will have and extra extended maintenance EU people will miss out on tickets, endeavour and log in reward.
Not that it would be the first time tho.

Yes, but the event ends the day after, so we can still get our Monday tickets plus our Tuesday tickets.

I'm guessing that, in addition to the new Update plus the new DLC, they're probably doing some of the database-related stuff that they had previously mentioned would be rolled out in increments.

@SeaGtGruff I admittedly jumped the gun - mixing up days - so, thank you for the clarification (and a sigh of relief).

Ticket reset is at 2 am EST, so 2 hours after reset is when maintenance happens.

Its an eta too. So could be shorter or longer. If its shorter then zos look better. If its longer then its not going to be unexpected. So give a long eta and if any quicker the better.

Actually, they change the patch start time so it start one hour before reset.

Tbh. I am installing other game (just in case) as there is always a chance for double maintenance, at least on PC EU.

And yes, there is a holiday in my country on Monday (work free day) so it is kinda unfortunate. :|

Well, trickery is most effective when you are least expecting it. I guess that's why they do it the day after Halloween.

By the time a game needs an 11 hour maintenance to install an update, assuming they didn't have to do a major teardown/rebuild servers from the ground up - one would assume that installing the entire game/update to a separate disk storage array and swapping the storage array would let them bring the servers up a whole lot faster than an 11 hour shift to do a live install during an event would take.

Lets not even discuss why maintenance has to be done DURING the last hours or day of an event rather than starting 00.01 minutes after the event actually ends.

One can easily assume that the end time of the event could be programmed into the event so that the event could actually end on time and letting them bring the servers down at any time after that for any scheduled maintenance, or even an array swap to initiate the new DLC release.

But, I used to schedule maintenance on nuke power plants, so critical path scheduling is probably not involved....

I hope ya'll get all the holiday loot you need to bulk up your achieve lists and grant the maximum mirth and merriment possible.

I am fairly sure that the actual code update is done pretty early in the maintenance. Even though it impacts a couple hundred machines, they can probably do this concurrently. It is the terabytes of live game data that is the issue, which must be preserved at all costs. If they permanently lose that data, it is game over. Working with that much data of such a critical nature takes time.

Also, I expect that they are running special jobs on the 19+ million player accounts as part of the Cold Storage that they are incrementally rolling out. This looks to be a task that take more than a couple hours.

That's a bit sad, but don't worry about the house; we'll have Undaunted and New Life before the next year and during those two events alone you'll have ample opportunity to get enough tickets for all the fragments and then some.

Firts of all dont expect ,,11 hours'' - expect a huge crash, that will take a whole day to repair. The second thing, is that last day of EVERY event is for maintance, its a tradition - old players know it.

And even if the fix will be implemented, dont be suprised if we gonna get another server fix ASAP, just when some big bug gonna show.

Yes, we know a such significant update like U32 require more time than usual.

Yes, we are aware that in MMO played by whole world there will always be someone for whom this will be inconvenient.

But for Uncle Sheo's sake, how do you imagine it will look during event where you not only need a ticket but also run a trial or arena to get event bonus?

huh... I just noticed an interesting new feature while trying to log into NA... there's no queue, but a timer when you can attempt to log in (now down to 2 minutes...). Creative thinking, I have to admit :)
