Essence of Invisibility not working

I use it to be sneaky and steal, but starting last night I keep getting caught despite being hidden. What gives?

The moment you interact with something the potion is negated. Cloak skill is as well. To my knowledge it's always been this way. If it seemed to work for you before, I'd say it was only because you were also naturally hidden (in sneak).

Heavy armour?
It is now terrible to try a 5 finger discount in heavy armour.
I can pop a potion and swipe loot from a backpack under a shopkeepers nose in medium.

Should be able to lockpick and loot strong boxes just fine while invisible. I have noticed the server has been hickuping as of late so I'd recommend wearing medium armor and seeing how that goes.

Nope, I've always been able to do this. But I did just switch to heavy armor the other day, so I will check that out.

They added passives to armor not too long ago. You can see them in the skill lines and heavy armor increases the size of your detection area while sneaking by 10% per piece of heavy armor worn.

I had the same problem during the MM event: I just sited in the corner of the imperial district, waited for world boss appearece, no mobs were around, no PVPers, and then suddenly player pops up out of nowhere and kill me with two strikes.
How does he find me? How he striked right to my back? Eye icon didn't become red or open, I was hidden for sure. Cheating?

Detect potions. Trust me. I had the same thing happen in the same place. Death out of nowhere. Out of curiosity, I fetched my nb vamp Khahiit thief in darloc/night terror/Night mother. Knocked back a detect pot and crept closer. Sure enough there he/was waiting above for me, the careless pvp quester, to fall for it again. Haha.
