Something I noticed about Event Coffers. Drop intervals.

I dont know if people have noticed this, but I've been harvesting for hours and appox. every 5 mins, I get a coffer from harvesting nodes.
I find this an interesting drop mechanic, it guarantees an even distribution instead of getting it by chance.
Just my observation.

I think this is more or less the way they've worked in other recent events, although there's usually some RNG involved after the cooldown period has elapsed. Are you saying the RNG has been reduced or removed? I'll have to start tracking this. Thanks!

I noticed this because normally when chance is involved, you'd be able to witness getting a few coffers within one minute and then nothing for a long time, but its always 5mins. There seems to be a delay when you pause during the harvesting, but it is minimum 5mins.

How so? Its not an exploit, just a fact. Nothing is broken. This drop mechanic just seems to guarantee that everyone gets their fair share, nothing more. Its not rocket science xD

No, probably not an exploit, but pretty much anything ever posted about 'good' drop rates on these forums gets 'fixed' fairly fast. It has been this way since start. If you want to share some good news about drops you have found, do it in game, or anywhere else but here, please. :'(

Whats funny is that ZOS decided on this mechanic. It cannot even be exploited because you dont get to have more than one coffer every 5minutes. I even timed it with a stop watch, its exactly 5minutes. With so many people doing what I do, harvesting nodes for hours, it gets very noticeable. And this is intended I must add. So again, nothing needs to be "fixed". As I also said, its just something I noticed.

I mean... it's just a cooldown mechanic, which applies to most loot container situations in the game. There's definitely a cooldown mechanic when it comes to getting motifs from NPCs in Vvardenfell, for example, and the same holds for furnishing plans from containers. This is 100% what's intended and there's nothing to "fix".

The best you will ever get is one every five minutes, it is not guaranteed.

If there aren’t a lot of nodes to farm it takes me longer to get one.

Technically, once you found (not rewarded by a daily quest!) an event coffer there is a 5 minute cooldown to find another. Once the CD is gone, there is a chance to find a new coffer harvesting nodes, killing mobs, opening chests, etc. The chance may not be the same for all types, but for harvesting it is not too great - I'd say around 10% for harvesting, but that is just a gut feeling. So it can take quite long if you are unlucky :(

Btw, afaik it is how it always has been for these type of rewards. Not to mention the 5 minutes CD applies to many other things in ESO, pretty much since the game has started - including some loot and spawn time.

What I'm curious about is the drops from these coffers. Is it really an even distribution, or some rewards (ie. purple motif or plan drops) have their own CD?
