Special Request: Need the Ability to Dye Artifact Styles

Hello

So basically I was rearranging several outfits the other day and noticed some things. First of all, the Spellbreaker shield looks plain awful. That color scheme forces me to use these akward bright, vibrant colors which altogether looks terrible. Secondly, I wanted to use the Bow of Shadows because the quiver sits comfortably against the player's back and is not 'floating' behind the player. However, the bow of shadows is (oddly enough) not shadowy in appearance whatsoever. It also uses these light textures that works against ALL of my darker outfits. Otherwise it looks fantastic yet because I can't fix it's textures it looks very noticeable and out of place.

Please consider allowing us to dye artifact styles, otherwise I have no use for these styles because the default textures look harrible and don't sit well with my outfits overall appearance.

Note: And another thing, I don't use most of the bow styles in game because the quiver sits too far away from the player's back. So in other words, the quiver 'floats' behind the player, leaving this strange 'gap'. Its noticeable and looks really REALLY sloppy and out of place. With that said, you know ZOS, if you look at the Skyrim mod scene, there are ppl in the community who can do great work with improving your textures & graphical errors. I'm just saying, it might be easier to recruit help from the community directly to fix some of these issues because what I'm describing here is something a modding Team would be all over cleaning this up if they could. Not to mention the 8-bit textures Cyrodiil uses for grass and terrain, but I digress.

Artifacts aren't dyeable because it's supposed to be a replica of that artifact. Like, you walk around and people think "Oh, wow, that Adventurer has Spellbreaker. They must've beaten the Dragon Priest for it!"

The effect is kinda diminished if you've dyed it green...

As for quivers, yeah, most of them float. It's probably not going to change. Especially with the outfit system allowing players to mix and match armor styles, floating avoids a lot of clipping. So in terms of annoyances, it's a case of pick your poison.

Plus, ZOS doesn't go back and change old styles anymore. You can talk about the modding community all you want, but that doesn't change that ZOS learned that players tend to grow attached to the way things look and get annoyed when they are suddenly changed - see the old Redguard light armor and Orc boob window armor debacle. And so if it's not a bug, ZOS doesn't mess with armor appearance lightly.

The first step towards progress is always the hardest. But ZOS has to be able and willing to make that step. Because the way this is now, these items are not customizable and look terrible. The designs are cool, sure. Like the models look great but to me, it seems like I am being forced to use textures where we already have a robust system for customizing an item how we need it to be.

ZOS can set the artifact to whatever color they like by default. What I'm proposing has nothing to do with changing that. But by them locking out my earned abilities to dye this artifact, which I paid money in the Crown store for, goes against why we have the dye system to begin with. And the model will not change so Spell Breaker will be easily recognizable no matter how I dye it. So there's no reason we should not be able to dye these items. I think this is something other players should voice their concern about as well or if someone knows someone, please see if they're willing to just unlock the Artifact Styles so we can dye them as needed. I mean, in history, several times a cup would be thought of as being the one that held the blood of Christ and whatever religious order held on to that artifact would sometimes paint or add jewels to it or gold, which gave it extra significance or helped conceal it from Thieves.

So I think ZOS denying us the ability to dye these artifacts actually subtracts from their worth, whereas by dyeing them we could actually further promote them rather than 'hide' them. I think ZOS has this backwards. Furthermore... who says the default texture from ZOS is necessarily correct? I mean, the Bow of Shadows 'texture'... does not look like anything from Nocturnal's realm. It honestly looks like it came from the Silver mines in Markarth or maybe something the Legion might use in Imperial City.

Regarding the bows, if you look at the different bow styles, they do not all have the same gap. So... the problem is not just because they're trying to avoid clipping, its not just because of differences in race. Literally some bow quivers have a very large and noticeable gap. This looks terrible. While we could just live with it (and have no choice in the matter for now), I could also live with no A/C. I could also drive a car with no paint, I could drink coffee with no cream, I could use a Keyboard with no wrist guard. You know, or I feel, they could just fix this. Its not affecting functionality no. The bow still works but its just like the issue with where the Staves sit up higher on the person than they should. And by not addressing this issue... it makes the game seem cheap and comical. It looks sloppy and does not convey a feeling of pride in one's character.

I don't see any special benefit to preventing a pricey outfit style from being dyeable.

You want it to look the same as the older games? Well first of all it doesn't, they're just facsimiles.

Second, if you want the original color scheme then leave it without color. No reason other people shouldn't be able to enjoy what they buy.

Outside of that one shield, I can't see other people using 'artifacts' ever. Ever ever ever.

As in literally, I don't notice them.

They look completely normal and nondescript in the game we have now -- a game full of bright colors and glowing weapons and mounts.
