PSA: Companions are alt-friendly

I know a lot of you already know this, but since I've come accross a LOT of comments of people that think that you have to level them up per alt.

Yes, you have to unlock them on each alt with a short quest, but they'll have their gear, skills, exp progress, etc. from your other characters, it's just the raport that gets leveled individually.

If you already knew it, then this post is not for you, but I thought this could be quite useful to some.

Even on low levels overland is so easy the companions are not necessary most of the time. Its basically just world bosses that they have any use & for wb they die way to quick if they gain any agro. Their healing isnt good enough to save you in any burst damage situations & as a tank they do ok but get overwhelmed quick. Zos should at least let them revive downed players or at very least if we go down it would be nice if the companions would continue to fight instead of just running over by your pile of ashes to cry

Yup. I was on my level 17 and some dps were asking for an sos on a world boss. I was able to help them out despite being so low level because Bastian still had all his stuff. So he tanked the boss and they melted it, and I got a daily done on a low level without having to shout in zone for aid. I was the aid.

It is good to know! From some of the complaints which must have been about rapport, I had thought they would have to be leveled up on each alt and I am glad that isn’t the case! I can do the guild leveling quests on the characters that are still leveling the same.

Does anyone know if there is any combat bonus or chance at getting better companion gear drops if you have a high rapport with a companion?

Apart from keeping companions sufficiently happy enough so as to avoid them despawning themselves back into their pokeballs, I'm wondering if it's worth it at all to even try maxing rapport.

You get their passives permanently and different dialogue but I think those are the only perks.
