PS5 version crippled, or is it just a weaker machine?

Own both the series x version of ESO and the PS5, I tend to play PS5 version more because that’s where friends are. But when I play on the PS5 (performance mode) there are so many weird stutter and frame drops that I don’t really have on the series x. I could be running through a dungeon on my own, turn the camera and suddenly I dip to about 30fps for a second then it shoots straight back up. Haven’t seen this happen on series X once.

It’s a dumb conspiracy I know, and probably just a coincidence that the PS5 version (in my experience) is the worst performer out of the 2, during a time where ZOS is being purchased by Microsoft. But I just wish there could be parity there.

There will be some of you who won’t notice it because you’re use to it, but it is there and I’ve seen some of you even comment about it on the forums and on Reddit.

I hope they can improve this, but something tells me the series x being that tiniest bit more powerful than the PS5, seems to be making all the difference here

The game itself has had severe stutter problems with the Waking Flame update that did not occur with the Blackwood update. On PS it occurs on all systems and software so it’s a matter of bad coding and not the system.

As for performance mode it was adjusted on PS5 to run the game at 4K 60FPS (up from 1440) this patch with the game dropping image quality down if need be to keep it at 60FPS.

Regardless it’s all about optimization and as we can see the game was pushed out to next gen consoles without being optimized to its full potential. As time goes on I can guess that on both PS5 and XbX we will see better performing 4K 60FPS with fewer effects turned off. But hitches from patch to patch will remain a thing. Just like how weapon surfing made a reappearance this patch after being fixed over a year ago.

I don’t think much of the above relates to the series x version as I haven’t seen hardly any of these issues regarding performance there. It’s just on the PlayStation.

We need more PS updates to fix all the abundance of bugs, etc. and hopefully we all can experience a better quality of our beloved ESO on console.

Also, are you on Wifi? I wish we had a poll to see how many actually play hard lined versus wireless. So many play on wifi and of course performance is super trashy. I think the PS5 enhanced has been great but I do crash WAY more often than before and it always seems to happen while I'm in the middle of a BG, super frustrating.

Its not simply a wifi issue, i get no lag in warzone and that games got over 100 players running around the map

Its stupid to blame the player for server side issues

I know it's not solely a wifi issue. We've all been dealing with terrible server performance forever i know. Also, i agree many other games I play, warzone included, do not share the same issues ESO has. Although, by having a wifi connect makes it even worst than it already is was all I was getting at.
