Menu and Duel-Request Prompt

I'm not sure if this is a bug or an exploit or whatever--but I was in my menu yesterday and managing inventory, and suddenly the text prompt in my screen said a duel was accepted and the countdown began.
I know with dungeon finder a prompt appears and it gives a 2 second cooldown while blocking your inventory/character menus so that you don't accidentally accept/decline something while doing something else. But I didn't get a prompt.
In fact, the guy who dueled me stood next to me while I was queued for random normal--then when I went into inventory is when he did the request. I think this has been a bug to exploit users who are completely unprepared to get some sort of trolling dirty/cheap win. By the time I got out of my menu realizing what happened I was 1/2 dead and typing in chat 'wtf'.
Please fix this.
Menu UI: "Gamepad Controller" (Vanilla settings). I'm not using the mouse/keyboard vanilla UI.
The only fix I could (temporarily) think of was to auto-decline duels.
