Black Fin Legion Motif 20 hour timer issue...

So I meticulously track when I get a motif so I know how long to wait before opening another crate.

I opened and got a Black Fin Legion motif on 9/24/21 @4:40am, I just opened over 30 crates (yes I made sure it was the right one and not the WB one) at @1am over 20 hours later and got no motiff. I finally stopped before I burned through all of my stockpiled crates.

Can we please, for the love of god, add a visible timer for these "hidden" rolling 20 hour timers or move everything to the daily reset. This is so frustrating and represents hours of wasted time stockpiling those crates on multiple characters AND having no idea why 30+ boxes had no motif, also opened 20 of the WB crates and got nada.

I always do the Bequeather right after I get one, so I know I can check it and if the bequeathed is available, I know for sure it's been over 20 hours.

This cooldown is bogus if it makes us stockpile rewards in our inventory and open them on a stupid once-a-day timetable. We get 2 per day if doing both dailies on only one toon.

Please remove this cooldown.

It robs us of earned rewards at the ridiculously low drop rate that we have to endure now otherwise.

Little things like this probably contribute to the lag and unresponsiveness of the game that we are experiencing, especially when multiplied by the total number of players on the server at any given time.

Yeah if it was on the daily reset I might still stockpile a little, since it sometimes takes 2-3 but I am just pissed right now because I blew through stockpiles on 2 characters and still have my main but don't know when I should open them.

Put this stuff on a visible timer or daily reset...it's been a pain in the ass for so long.

I'd say the drop rate is 10% tops so 0-30 isn't that outrageous.

I've gotten like 6 and I haven't been trying all that hard- 3 toons one delve each a day. I'm just selling the motifs, fairly confident I'll be able to buy the them in a month for 25% of what I'm selling for right now.

The drop rate is not 10% the drop rate it normally very high, once the 20 hour timer has elapsed. Once you get one though, yes the drop rate for a subsequent one is probably around 5% or less. I appreciate your input but I doni't think you understand the specific issue I am complaining about or how the mechanic I am complaining about works.

Now I'm just waiting 30 minutes, opening 3, then waiting another 30 minutes, this is extremely frustrating and needlessly annoying.

So opened one right after the daily reset and a motif dropped...did they remove the 20 hour timer and move this to a daily reset? Would be awesome if they did, but would love confirmation.

Ok so just to test things, I opened a Leyawin WB coffer just before the daily reset and got an Ivory Brigade motiff, then did the same right after the reset and got another. I also tried opening 3 Leyawin coffers from Delves before the reset (well after the 20 hour timer and got nothing) I opened one after the daily and got one immediately.

So can someone from ZoS please verify if they have removed the 20 hr timer on these and gone to daily resets?

Yes, please can we get accurate information about these timers. If it’s daily or 20 hours reset. Really hate all those hidden timers ZOS uses. I mean the game is tracking it so why not just have a screen where we can see all of them to help us the players especially console players with no add-on helpers to track stuff like this.

Yeah, I just opened 12 boxes maybe 20 hours after my last BFL motif and got squat.

Of course, it never even occurred to me that the timer might be broken. I just figured I was, once again, a victim of the kind of unmitigated-RNG system that has no business being in any live game in 2021.

Adding my own 2 cents, I whole heartedly agree. With everything everyone just said, so quote everyone above this post. Timers, motifs, and lag. FIX things now or hulk go boom boom, smash!

There shouldn't be any timers on things you can only do a limited number of times per day anyway. I doubt the number of players who do the maximum six dailies (which you need to group with people and hope they consistently get different quests than you in order to do even that) on a large number of characters (I'd say maybe 8+?) is the majority; most people probably only do two on a handful of characters. So why do we need a timer? Why do they need to restrict even further what's already restricted? It doesn't make any sense.

(I know the answer is "because they want to make you play more/longer because the metric looks good" but when a game needs to resort to artificially drawing such things out instead of relying on the game itself being fun enough for people to want to play, that's kind of lame.)

Yes I find the CD really unnecessary. Everything should follow the daily reset time for ease of use. And for motifs from dailies, get rid of the CD and lower the drop rate.

The cooldowns are not even the biggest problem, you can adept.

The problem are HIDDEN cooldowns. They let you grind/play without even having the chance to get the desired piece.

I can’t figure this one out. I turned in a bunch of quests today after what I thought was 24 hours and no motif. I wish ZOS would just be transparent about this stuff, I don’t want to track dozens of hidden timers in a game I supposedly play for fun.

I would love for the cooldown to be either visual, or if its something that could help with load on the system, why not make all of them like writs or pledges and reset at the same time each day? 1 or 2 am? If it was across the entire game surely it would be an enormous quality of life improvement.

So you opened a box on each side of the daily? One before the reset and got a motif, then one after the reset and got a motif, within 8 hours of each other?

I can promise that there is no 20 hour timer on them any longer and it certainly seems like both Ivory and Black Fin are now on the daily reset.

And while it would be great if this is actually the case (it would be even better if there wasn't a CD at all), we have the problem with ZOS not telling us when an important mechanic has been changed from one thing to another. The frustrating thing, too, is it's like they think if they just don't say anything people will think it doesn't exist, despite people being able to compile data that shows it does. Did they think no one would notice a hidden timer if they stayed quiet about it? And why not tell us if it was changed to reset with other things like dailies? it's possible it was just missed in the patch notes, but i have a feeling it's more likely that if they don't confirm there's any sort of CD on Motifs then no one can get mad at them for it b/c there's no "official" word on it.

Yes one before and one after. I read your post so I thought lets try it. But the sample-size is really low, might been the lucky draw...

The other day I opened like 10-15 boxes until one finally dropped and that was after waiting 20h.

At around 20 boxes you are likely to get one even within the time limit.

It's worked the last 3 days and I've tested both sides of the daily reset and outside the 20 hr window, so I am pretty sure they are working on the daily reset now.

Not sure who to @ in here to see if we can get an answer or affirmation.

You wont get any answer. Just stick to opening rewards coffers on daily reset. people have been asking this same question for years. If they wanted to give us an answer we would have got it by now.

I thought it had been agreed that once you open a reward box and get a motif page, then no matter how many more you opened at the same time you would not get another.

I will search for that thread and add it here if I can find it.

The confusion stems from people not understanding how the timer clearly works.

Your odds of getting a motif are never 0 or 100. If you are within the timer window since you got a motif page, your odds are very low and if you are outside that timer window, your odds are very high. There absolutely is a timer and it affects the probability of whether you do or do not get a motif page. It does not guarantee it.

I will say the Hexos ones are harder to gauge, I open right after the daily reset and sometimes I get it immediately but have occasionally had to open as many as 7-8. If I just open and open, I averaged more like one every 12-15 coffers, but I only tested that a couple of times as collecting them on multiple characters is tedious.
