Crown Store purchases being avoided?

Anyone avoiding crown store purchases of content, houses, etc. until they see what/when the next patch is?

Up until this one, I've grabbed every house guest, and the home I've been waiting for is currently up. But with the current state of things and the amount of friends and family that have quit the game, especially over the last few weeks due to performance and things like the new sets, I'm a little iffy on grabbing it. Due to the fear as to whether these new sets are the new direction and the way the game feels clunkier now etc. - With the lack of communication I'm getting a bit paranoid. Starting to feel a bit like Warhammer.

This a 'just me' thing?

I would suggest such actions are very limited. Those that actually buy items regularly are going to buy what they want vs having to wait a year or two for it to become available again. Those quitting the game over the recent update are probably small in numbers.

Either way, the next patch should drop in a week or two so you do not have long to wait.

Would be nice. I really don't want to miss these two things I've been waiting for.

Stillwater comes out in a couple weeks. That'll be my big purchase.

PvP aside this update was pretty dull really. I don't think it really affected pve much at all? I see quite a few complaints about lag lately but if I was gonna quit over lag it would have happened 5-6 years ago.

I'm getting a lot of "clunk" on the overall. Trying to run dungeons and farm things with the crew started to feel pretty tedious this past week/weekend. Hopefully the stuff gets addressed. Imo, all complaints and problems aside, it's my favorite game in quite some time and I've been going at it for a couple of years now myself. Would be such a shame to see it fall off when there's so much more content and many great battles to be had in the future.

I feel the same way, I love ESO but right now I'm holding off on spending any more money on this game until we see some actual improvements for; performance in Cyrodiil, improvements for Companions, and overall better content in terms of zones and quests. The yearly formula has gotten stale for me already and I'm not exited for future content at the moment. It sucks cause ESO is my favorite game and I want to support it, but I guess the only way to see improvements overall is to vote with my wallet. Honestly I think communication is lacking on ZOS's part, they do tell us some stuff like for example what they were going to do this year in terms of tests for cyrodiil and I do appreciate that they told us the results of the tests (that they made no significant impact on performance). But I wish they could be more open with the community we still don't know what they are doing now to help with performance now that the tests seem to be over or are they? Will we get more tests? What is ZOS doing right now to help performance? Will companions be improved upon providing more depth? Will ZOS continue with the yearly formula theme for content? There are soo many more questions that we don't know the answer to and it feels like we are left in the dark. If communication was better then I feel like a lot more players would be more understanding and patient. This would relieve some of the uncertainty of the future direction of the game.

It is a choice to buy or not. Only you can make that choice.

Also, ESO hardly compares to Warhammer as that game was lacking from the start. ESO has a strong community (hence revenue) which means there is no reason to suggest the sky is falling.

Same here, seeing of how great they treat their eu costumers by taking down the server 3 weeks in a row and getting extra maintenance instead of improving it to avoid bigger issues, I will gladly pass on Sweetwater Cascade even I actually had plans of buying it.
And I will pass on everything else what comes to the crown store from now on if nothing changes.

Since I never have any issues, I'm buying my usual. I'll be getting Stillwater on one account one server. If it's not outrageously priced I may buy it on each account both servers, we'll see.

Caveat: I never have any issues because I play only solo content, quests and so on. No pvp (ew) or group content at all.

I have a couple of friends that play like that. It's like pulling teeth to get them to do stuff :persevere: and they dread needing help getting leads and such for antiquities.

I think its an kind of fatigue for pets and mounts and to some degree outfits, too much recolors and most veterans has lots of cool stuff and don't need recolors of it.
Might be the same with houses, you end op having the one you wants.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

My ping's too high (satellite is all I have available) to mess with group content. I don't need things like leads from group instances. And three+ years in, I'm perfectly happy mutzing around the way I do. I can do delves fine, and that's really enough for me.

Back when I played WoW and RIFT, I had family guilds, and family/friends to group with. I also got HIGHLY burned out on all that. This game suits me down to the ground.

No. Performance, like balance, is something every online game will never have perfect. So I don't base my purchases on such things or expect things to be perfect on that end because it's just a way to make yourself angry and bitter by setting yourself up with unrealistic expectations.

Every update ZOS does a lot of bug fixing and balance changes, and they always have a lot more that needs doing. It's the nature of MMOs period.

Rather than getting mad at the imperfection of humanity, I instead base my purchases on if I'm having fun. If I'm not having fun anymore and find myself not logging in much, I won't spend anything. If that happens over an extended period, I uninstall. If I am having a good enough time playing the game that I'm still logging in fairly regularly, then there's no reason not to buy things I like. This patch I am logging in regularly and having fun, so I bought Patherfang Chapel and am happy with my purchase.

Like, @spartaxoxo I tend to buy stuff when I'm in full-swing with the game and enjoying myself. Most of the stuff just doens't appeal to me and much of what it does is just too expensive for my tastes. I did buy M'aiq and some race change tokens when they were on sale, but beyond that, solid meh from me.

I'm on a leave from the game, just logging in to do my dailies here and there, and that's it. Leveling up my horse just isn't incentive enough for me. I have 9 max-levels and honestly the game just feels stagnant for me. The last expansion didn't do much for me, and I've played the others to death. So there's nothing to keep me in the game and buying stuff I probably don't need.

The current state of things is fine so far as I'm concerned, no problems at all but then I don't do PvP or group content nor am I interested in things like sets, costumes and motifs etc. However, that said, I subscribe on both my accounts and do occasionally use my free Crowns on housing (I'm not a trader so I've not much gold), but otherwise I don't really buy anything on the Crown Store. I've barely used any Endeavour seals thus far, I think I've bought one mount training lesson and that was only gaining me one day's advancement on one character so pretty pointless really, especially as the time it takes to complete mount training doesn't concern me at all in a game I've already played for well over 7 years with no plans to stop until my advancing years compel me otherwise.

I don't like purchasing things from the crown store solely because most things are cosmetic. I just don't like riding around on a flashy iron-frost-fire ebony Dwemer flying magical horse-indrik with my flashy clothes that look like they are about 5 eras into the future because it is so lore-breaking. It looks like ZoS took inspiration from those "immersive" Skyrim mods. I still love my free horse from Level 10 and actual armor that makes sense.

Also, I realize that later I will look back on my purchases and ask myself, "Why did I buy this?"

I'm avoiding crown store purchases until they start bringing out fixes for the bugs affecting pvpers, balancing the OP proc sets that everyone now has to wear, and now they're deleting all options but one from Battlegrounds. While I understand things will never be perfect but by now we should have seen at least some permanent fixes for bugs in pvp. I don't see myself supporting this company until they start making their community feel heard and they start rolling out fixes for the numerous problems in pvp.

I was playing New World and the Devs were communicating with the community daily both in the forums and even in game. They had a known bugs list in the forums longer than my arm but we got to see things getting crossed off daily and they provided updates on their progress when it came to bug and performance fixes. It was refreshing to see, but we as a community aren't getting that from this company.

To be fair, a lot of brand new releases have the devs interacting with the community, but a year into ESO and I'm a little bored and not putting in the time as I was.

I also tried New World, the recent open beta, against my initial feeling on it, but loved it and did my first ever prepurchase of a game in nearly 20 years of computer gaming. I feel like a 6 year old 2 weeks out from Christmas. Of the 4 MMOs I have on my computer 2 will be getting the axe as they are old and recent changes from the studios show nothing positive going forward. Keeping ESO, it's good, but backing off a bit. And no, no crown store buys.

I don't purchase in crown store simply because I find everything expensive and at same time, I'm rarely interested by what is proposed so my motivation to invest is low. I purchased 3 times: a house, a banker and a merchant. With that, I was served.

I also tried once a bunch of 15 crown crates. It was a lesson learned the hard way: I got nothing else than potions for which I have no need, a riding lesson I couldn't use since maxed already and one mini pet that is certainly cute, but I don't use mini-pets. Never again.

I'm also not feeling into it. PvE got boring for me, so I switched to PvP a few months ago, only to find that PvP is an absolute mess that the devs don't care about or even remember exists half the time. So that's great. Idk what to do in game anymore. I thought about getting into RP but I'm an antisocial type of person so idk how well I'd get into that, and I have a job so idk if I'd be able to participate in any RP events due to scheduling.

I just know that if the game still is in rough shape when Halo Infinite drops on Dec. 8th, I probably won't get back on ESO for months, if ever.

While I have crowns, I will buy my houseguests and even a house if I particularly like it, and in EU only. If the cat or bird assistants go on sale, I may consider them. But I'm not planning on buying crowns specifically like I did for the Mundus stones in the guild hall. I see too many people drifting away or walking out now, and I'm the one watching the guild roster closely to trim the inactive after 4 months.

ESO specifics (for me): not enough value in the few conveniences and the fluff I would buy is no longer for sale; eg. why buy vampire line when bites are free? For $1~$2? Sure! Yeah, bite is free, but instant rank 10 would be fun from L1 if the store cost was also cheap. Horses? Again, fully maxed per character for $1~$2, sure (or 20~30 per account); $150 per character? You're gouging. Same thing for skill-point shards; $20~30 per account for ALL max'd .. yup! Per zone? No.

Paying to skip unpleasant grinding feels like gouging. IMHO, only horses fit that bill for ESO. So, they really do a pretty good job of avoiding outright gouging. The skill line and shard stuff is foolishly priced, because if you skip those, you just have to grind up your level anyway; both are a grind, but one you have to buy.

Can buy trait-time for crafting, too, but past about T6 it's mostly for the writs. There's nothing worth wearing at T9. If there were end-game wearables in crafting, I'm not sure if I'd consider those speedups a gouge or not. You only need one crafter per account and I don't mind account-wide skips. It's the per character ones that trigger the gouge "don't buy" reflex.

Mostly, though, if they want my cash for the store: sell more fluff. Put up every mount, skin, cosmetic, etc they've ever had in game and I will buy. First thing I do when making a new character is make it look right. The fewer barriers there are to both making new characters and giving them the right appearance, the more fluffy cash you'll make from me.

I'm sort of in the middle, as for a number of reasons, I don't currently feel good about making crown purchases. It has to do with a number of ways that I have witnessed and experienced ZOS treating it's customers, but then I'm also still part of the problem as I still do make the occasional purchase so I'm really working against my own stand.

This current change to remove all non-deathmatch battlegrounds has me feeling even more guilty about spending money with ZOS, as I think it's another example of poor treatment towards the customer.

But I'm still fairly active in game, and have still made some small crown purchases, so I guess I'm not avoiding it completely.

My buying rate is about what it has always been, ie I buy what I want when I see it. The only difference now is that maybe I am a little more discerning about what I purchase.
