Mesmerize not firing in BG

It's not the usual ability failure. The rare is so high to the point it's useless.

Situation: right after break free, in the middle of fight or getting a lot of hits - it does fire when I'm not in combat
Syndrome: click it without weaving or other ability before or after. I can see the on screen button clicked, but no red wind poping up, no effect.


Here is the question: How can the on-screen button get "clicked" if an ability doesn't fire? This apply to all other abilities as well.

I confirmed this affects other abilities as well, but far less common.

I just had trouble firing Subterranean Assault in public dungeon while in combat. Three times - pressed the ability, saw it "clicked" on screen but nothing happened, but I can use other abilities just fine.

Can we get a log message in chat or something that tells us why an ability can't fire? (after on-screen "click" which confirms the server does know about it). I think it'd help a lot.

Did more tests today and the issue appears to be ability specific. 4 different skills on the same button.

If I slot Vigor it always works, always
If I slot other healing it sometimes fails
If I slot shield abilities it's like 50/50
If I slot Mesmerize it's 9 failures out of 10, no red flash.


All of them are used in dying moments so I could easily count how often they fail - because when they fail I die.

Could it be that ESO gives priority to more common skills when the server starts lagging for PvP? That means we better use skills that other players use...?
