Something I’d like to see added to the game

Deeper group dungeons and trial content. Like an expedition of some sort. Let me explain. Much like how trials already work but instead of ending at a final boss, there is no end. You just keep going deeper and deeper into the location and the enemy encounters just keep scaling up. The further you go the harder the enemies become. But your loot and gear finds scale up too. The incentive to keep going. The expedition keeps going and becoming more and more challenging. The only way it ends is when either everyone dies or you give up. Maybe have safe areas or a way for your group to actually step away from the game for real life so you don’t lose progress. But you’re locked in until either your group gets wiped out or you give up.

So basically a never ending dungeon or trial. A real endgame challenge.

Final Fantasy has this, except with a end.
Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High.
Two hundred floors of increasing difficulty.

I don't think too many people would go for it never ending though. You'd need a end point. It's a MMO, and people do need to budget thier time.
Definitely would need a stopping point.

Elder Scroll Blades has something like this so it may not be impossible. It would have to be procedurally created and not sure if the code aupports that.

I always thought it would be fun if they created a dungeon where every time you went into a new room, it was a boss from a different dungeon so the griups would have to recognize the room and mechanics.

Well, i am not a fan or rising difficullty through "scaling". If you want to test yourself in this way, go play hardest difficullty in the Baldur's Gate (30 minutes to kill the rat, yeah ^^).

It is far better to have a new mechanics to challenge and in a way we have few arenas that offers that.

OP, I had very similar idea. Procedurally generated, from existing "sections" - so the dungeon would be random, different with each playthrough, every time you go inside. It would have 2 game modes - solo & group.

After completing each room, you will go to next area with different challenge awaiting (again, all random each time). It would not be only about killing all the monsters or bosses. Some sections could be about completing a puzzle, or for example it would require your to do something within certain time (push the lever and reach door before it closes). Or maybe a dark maze (no light source !) with no map & you will have to "find" the exit.

Every now and then, you would encounter a way-shrine, that would serve as a "checkpoint" - so you could save your progress. Also, you will be able to teleport out and it will allow you to resume later (again, it could be very long dungeon).

The goal would be to reach the final chamber. It would be like an old-school dungeon crawler stye experience. :D

Weapon and Armour displays that also act as storage, like in Skyrim. I'm sure we all have stuff like that we'd like to put on display when we're not using it.

In everquest 2 we went into runnyeye and it seemed to go on forever. It was harrowing!

And the music during our trek was so epic. It's such a fond memory!

Lore-wise, I don't know how something like that can be added, but I would love to see "long" dungeon, almost endless in one way
    I'm a single character man.
    Stamblade. Khajiit. Mostly pvp.
    And...that's it.

Where are these never ending mobs and bosses going to come from? It would require never ending staff and time for every one of these dungeons and trials. Who would be left to work on other new content?

I doubt many players would enjoy a dungeon or trial that goes on indefinitely and has no completion anyway.

It wouldn't, it would be procedurally generated and spawn from existing resources.

It's not something I would ask for. It's not something I'd be upset with if added. It would be another notch in the Diablo influence of this game.

They wouldn't need someone to continuously maintain it.

The sounds of this sounds essentially like the basic design of Diablo. There aren't devs sitting by a computer to constantly update and add more to Diablo's dungeons. It's procedurally generated, using assets that the game already has.

Each level of the dungeon might be a "theme", level 1 using Elsweyr assets, level 2 using Summerset assets, level 3 using Deshaan assets, level 4 using Grahtwood assets, etc. (and the assets used will likely be randomized)

There wouldn't be any continuous maintenance on it. Simply, it would be a feature designed to procedurally generate from existing assets to create a persistent level that goes on and on and on for as long as the player / group stays in and chooses to run it.

All of the mobs and bosses will already exist in the game.

I still think it is a bad idea that would take a lot of time and manpower for something that few players would utilize.

So, basically The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall but in ESO. Have fun getting lost in never ending tunnels and dead ends for 5 real hours!

But actually I don't see it as being never ending. Even the "infinite dungeons" in Blades ends at level 50 or whatever. Maybe just an incredibly large dungeon, but that might be really hard to make.

Yeah. No kidding, been there done that. Honestly? Wasn't fun. Mostly, you wound up having to "cheat" your way out when the dungeons glitched.... Oh.... and the daedra - way OP for whatever level your character might have been. Now, mind you, I LOVED Daggerfall - and I'd still play it today but I can't deal with first person any more (vertigo issues - NOT fun). But the dungeons - and the OP daedra.... Well, it did make game life interesting! More or less....

Yes, each level would be generated based on assets already in the game. It would be completely random and the end would be either when the entire group wipes or leaves. However, say you can only use x amount of soul gems per level and once you’ve used (let’s say 3) on that level you’re done.

It might sound unfair to have that kind of difficulty but I would think hardcore end game players want more challenges and rewards worth going after. The rewards would have to increase in quality. Maybe even hide some super rare special drops with terrible RNG so they don’t become the meta. (Like some games have done before. Everquest comes to mind)

The only challenge I see devs would have is making the reward worth the effort. I know other games have something similar to what I’m trying to relay here. And yes, I know people have lives outside of the game. So there would have to be checkpoints that allow the game to mark your location and save. Maybe even have a merchant and banker (would be like a falmer or goblin, right?) at the check point.

Maybe if the player dies the 3 times the only way they can continue is if they own a token they’ve purchased from the crown store or one of the other group members sacrificed one of their own soul gems. Maybe even give a token away as a daily log in reward from time to time. These “tokens” would have to be priced in such a way they force the player to really decide if it’s worth buying and using or just restarting.
