it has been 4 years and i am still mad about malevolent offering

flashback to around clockwork city patch (i think? i could be wrong): agony, which is basically fossilize but bad with more range, gets deleted. i didnt really care because i didnt use it because i prefer fear. it gets replaced with malevolent offering, an interesting and neat skill which does about 4-5k damage instantly but heals you or a target over time for overall more hp. i used this in 1vX a little bit and i found it really neat and fun! you could risk losing some hp to be able to sustain more damage later on if you predicted a lot of damage was going to occur. it was great risk vs reward, was very thematic for the class, and i couldnt really figure out if it was good or bad before it got DELETED TWO SECONDS LATER.

old malevolent offering was around for A SINGLE PATCH before it got REPLACED by a heal that, instead of doing instant damage, places a dot on you but heals the target instantly. ONLY A TARGET. NOT THE PLAYER. this makes it one of the most specific class skills the game has to offer because it now has a single purpose: playing a healer and healing for other people, not yourself. for anyone who isnt a healer the skill is literally useless aside from killing yourself for funsies.

i really cant think of a single reason why the morphs arent a choice between the old offering and the new one. the current morphs are the very thing zos tries to avoid: more effectiveness or lower cost. really boring pointless garbage.

its been 4 years (i think) and im still upset by this skill i see everytime i open my skill list. please bring back the elusive skill i got to play with for a single patch. also maybe make magblade not the second worst class in the game when played normally (worst is magden if u were curious). thank u love ur game

    I liked the previous spell actually, the AOE morph was brutal under the right circumstances. It didn't do well against few targets and downright useless against singles, but if you got 6+ targets close together you can mow them down fairly quickly by spamming it with no target limit, I don't think many knew that and wrote off the ability as crap.

    Agony was aggressively bad unless you stub locked players on their horses in PvP. They couldn’t CC break cause they were mounted and you had 30 seconds to prep a solid nuke they could only wait for death to come

    Yes, this skill is trash for 2 reasons: useless for self healing and almost useless for healers themselves since nb healers in general rare and provide no utility and even when they are present combat prayer is better option for group burst heal.

    an addition to the list of useless and upsetting nightblade skills: consuming darkness. since the major protection change, it didnt get converted to a better variant, and thus costs 200 ult for 10% damage reduction. might be cute to slap down in a zerg or trial or something but its never actually gonna do anything. and any value it has is limited to being with a large group.

    Should we mention how the warden storm literally costs the same, moves with you, snares, does damage and still gives aoe major protection? :D

    I agree that the nightblade nerfs were brutal.

    I now enjoy nightblade only when using Cloak to be unbothered in PvE on my thief.

    As a nightblade main, I'm not saying I love it, but it could have applications with a little creativity. You could use it to proc sets like leeching plate, for instance.

    I will never use that skill, and I have a dedicated healer character. It's a waste, in my opinion.

    I am one of the few who play a dedicated healer magblade in PvP (mainly for bgs). I use the Healthy Offering morph quite a lot. I use Combat Prayer mostly to buff my teammates or to give myself a quick burst but Healthy Offering comes in handy often when a teammate is out of range of combat prayer and low on health. It provides a solid burst heal and the damage to myself is easily healed through, even when spamming Healthy Offering. The 8% healing buff while health is being drained is also nice.

    That being said, it would be interesting if the other morph was a little more different than it is currently. Right now, all it does is reduce the cost and not significantly enough to justify taking it IMHO.

    Yeah I can also get some pretty insane and useful healing with the current skill and I like it thematically, but definitely one morph should be reworked. Rework shrewd and keep healthy, imo

    optimally id like to see the current version changed so that it can work on yourself and the other morph to be the old version, so the morphs would be trading a dot for a burst heal, or trading a chunk of hp for a hot.

    Just make any hop cost 99 % of your current health and that thing will instantly disappear.
