flashback to around clockwork city patch (i think? i could be wrong): agony, which is basically fossilize but bad with more range, gets deleted. i didnt really care because i didnt use it because i prefer fear. it gets replaced with malevolent offering, an interesting and neat skill which does about 4-5k damage instantly but heals you or a target over time for overall more hp. i used this in 1vX a little bit and i found it really neat and fun! you could risk losing some hp to be able to sustain more damage later on if you predicted a lot of damage was going to occur. it was great risk vs reward, was very thematic for the class, and i couldnt really figure out if it was good or bad before it got DELETED TWO SECONDS LATER.
old malevolent offering was around for A SINGLE PATCH before it got REPLACED by a heal that, instead of doing instant damage, places a dot on you but heals the target instantly. ONLY A TARGET. NOT THE PLAYER. this makes it one of the most specific class skills the game has to offer because it now has a single purpose: playing a healer and healing for other people, not yourself. for anyone who isnt a healer the skill is literally useless aside from killing yourself for funsies.
i really cant think of a single reason why the morphs arent a choice between the old offering and the new one. the current morphs are the very thing zos tries to avoid: more effectiveness or lower cost. really boring pointless garbage.
its been 4 years (i think) and im still upset by this skill i see everytime i open my skill list. please bring back the elusive skill i got to play with for a single patch. also maybe make magblade not the second worst class in the game when played normally (worst is magden if u were curious). thank u love ur game
