What stats have the most impact on warden's bear damage?

The game isn't telling me what affects the bear's basic attacks.

How are the bear's basic attacks calculated? Is it mostly magicka? Is it spell damage?

What CP and sets should I use if I want to make my bear powerful?

You can find detailed breakdown with coefficient factors at UESP Skill Browser but in general all ultimates ale always based on Max Stats - Weapon/Spell + Stam/Mag in proportion 10:1.

Of course remember about Warden passives to physical dmg ;)

Magic Bear beats Physical Bear because of Piercing Cold passive.

Interesting. Out of curiosity is this something you are saying in general or is it just not shown on the tooltip for some reason? I'm just asking since I heavily rely on the bear for my ranger build but I always went with the physical one due to higher tooltips. It would actually be nice to be able to use the magical bear since it would save me a ton of trouble of recasting with that really long cast-time while I'm also running/dodging for my life.

    Thank you!

I got this from the site:

    0.031974 MaxStat + 0.33572 MaxDamage
    Ultimate (Damage), R2 = 1, Ratio = 10.50
Magic Damage, Single Target, Direct Damage, Melee

Does that mean that stats like crit don't matter for the bear's normal attack (without using Ultimate)? I'm guessing the best thing to do is pile on magicka if I want to make my bear's normal attack stronger?

I'm considering wearing Necropotence and Crafty Alfiq's

(I know it's very situational, but I'm having fun seeing how much damage my bear can do solo.)

The Increased damage that the physical bear receives is nowhere near 10% while its normal attack is minimal in difference at rank 4. The real power shines when you factor in the AoE swipe attack and the activation attack, especially when it executes. Bear is an ultimate so it scales with whatever your highest stat, the actual damage can be modified by Piercing Cold because it boosts Magic and Cold damage, the Bear included.

When it comes to crit, the best way to check a skill is combat metrics and see how it works.

I was also running my stamden in stamina equipment of Alfiq (Draugh or something ^^) but remember that those 5000 magicka would be an equivalent of around 500 weapon/spell dmg and could be increase only by few percents by skills like Mages Guild passives or class stuff like Sorcerer (and in reality, it would boost LA in very small way).

Meanwhile... A decent set with bonuses to weapon/spell power would offer you an extra 700-800 dmg (like DV or Clever Alchemist) and you can easily buff these stats by 20% with sorcery/brutality even up to extra 1000, and with Dragonknight in team (or when you will be hugging trial dummy) you will get extra 10%.

The highest crit I have seen my bear hit (stam morph) is 178K during a parse. I got that in the final percentage of execute and intentionally held the bear for maximum impact. I’m running EC and Relequen with the kilt and 1pc slimecraw. I hit 98K on the dummy with this setup and it’s one of the most fun setups I use in groups. Plenty of other setups hit harder but I prefer to bring some group utility.

You'd likely get more on the mag morph due to piercing cold. Not really any reason to use the stam morph at all.
