I've noticed the opposite trend for maintenance downtime length: it seems to be fairly consistently shorter than advertised (whether the advertised length is 4 or 6 hours).Seriously, why are you doing this again? The event ends Tuesday. The maintenance is Tuesday. You can't delay maintenance one day?
I'm not going to get up at 3 a.m. EDT to get my tickets. And I'm definitely expecting, like every single maintenance over the last year, it will go longer than usual because you find some kind of bug in the process or the update or whatever. Plus, by your own admission, maintenances are going to be longer because of your database/cold storage stuff.

However, this does bring up the question of "If they are aware of this fact during the planning of event and maintenance schedules, then why didn't they work around it better?"
