Maintenance. On the last day of the event.

Seriously, why are you doing this again? The event ends Tuesday. The maintenance is Tuesday. You can't delay maintenance one day?

I'm not going to get up at 3 a.m. EDT to get my tickets. And I'm definitely expecting, like every single maintenance over the last year, it will go longer than usual because you find some kind of bug in the process or the update or whatever. Plus, by your own admission, maintenances are going to be longer because of your database/cold storage stuff.

If I had to guess, I'd think that there's some part of turning off the event included in the maintenance.

Or have there been any events that started/stopped without maint?

Lots of events have had maintenance on a Monday with the event ending on a Tuesday. I suspect its mostly the US holiday pushing maintenance back a day here. I think quite a while ago they actually shifted the typical event ending to Tuesday from Monday after repeated complaints about the overlap with maintenance, which works out fine most of the time, just not when it coincides with a holiday.

I always assume I'm going to miss at least 1 day of an event due to maintenance (on top of any I'm missing because I'm away or busy) because it seems more likely to happen than not.

I was plesantly surprised when last Monday (which was a holiday in the UK) didn't have maintenance and it was shifted to the Tuesday (when more people would be working) even though ironically I was out on Monday and off work on Tuesday so it actually worked out worse for me, but at least that time I was able to get my tickets in the evening.

But it would be nice if they could get the people who schedule events to work with the people who schedule maintenance to try to make sure they don't conflict, especially on the last day when you can't just do the event stuff later on.

Not sure why they wouldn't start the maintenance at 10:00am EDT. That's when the event ends.

I don't think maintenance is used to stop the event. If it did, then I'd think Xbox and PS4/5 would have the same maintenance time.

I've noticed the opposite trend for maintenance downtime length: it seems to be fairly consistently shorter than advertised (whether the advertised length is 4 or 6 hours).

This time, there's a somewhat less flimsy excuse for Tuesday maintenance. Monday is Labor Day in the States.

However, this does bring up the question of "If they are aware of this fact during the planning of event and maintenance schedules, then why didn't they work around it better?"
