Why roll dodge seems broken?

I always find people around that seems to have roll dodge longer than intended by long shot.
I stunned a guy with Incapacitang Strike, he insta breakfree plus roll dodge and not only he avoids my bow proc (as intended and normal due to the travel projectile speed), but also the next light attack plus surprise attack. How is that even possible?
When get hit by any stun even running Slippery for autobreak, I immediately get hit by bow procs, executioners, surprise attack even during the roll dodge animation.

It has to do with lag and desync? Any idea how to fix this and have my roll dodge working as intended?

    Mostly to do with differences in internet speeds to the server.

    I don't even try to roll d-swings anymore since it's too late for me if the animation has even begun. There are only two ways to 'fix' it. Get a faster internet connection to the server or adapt your playstyle and build.

    Yeah, there is meridia, there is also s&b ultimate that seems popular, although it should work as block not dodge...

    I recently did some tests with a friend, we wanted to figure out how long you are dodging after the roll dodge has finished. Having that dodge timer after a finished roll dodge was introduced with Morrowind, but I didn't find the patch note where it has reduced. According to Morrowind it should be 2 seconds, but I think it has been drastically reduced sometime ago. I wish you could look up stats like that, but F1 doesn't offer such detail. Whatever, we figured out my friend had to time his dodge roll really good to avoid my uppercut. He would have to dodge roll, as soon as the animation started and often he would get hit even then, even when I could see him rolling.

    Although this gets easier with projectiles. When I am dodge rolling in active combat and I am for example running away from a zerg trying to get through a keep door, I would dodge roll and then see me doding lots and lots and lots of projectiles, mostly like a million crystal frags. Strangely it never works that good in a 1v1.

    Exactly i see this extra window on lot of players, they finished the roll dodge animation and start walking but still dodge my next hit.

    While for me it sometimes works like that, most of the times my character is about to finish the animation and i get nuked by executioners frags and single targets even if theoretically I should be still in the dodge animation.

    yeah so there is a couple of things that could be happening. Its not unlikely for the bow to miss because of the travel time like you stated. SA is one of the abilities with the shortest "cast time" meaning it activates almost immediately after pressings the key for it unlike skills like executioner. ( they both obey the same 1 second global cooldown though its just one happens on the upstroke and one on the downstroke to draw a similarity.) . roll dodge has this lagging effect that can cause light attacks that are casted in between the roll dodge or even towards the end to still be dodge. I imagine the SA that you cast last probably didn't even go off because of the new range checks they implemented in the "performance patch" one year ago

    There is also a set that increases the dodge rolling i-frames window by something like 0.3 seconds. Can't remember what the name of the set is and I don't know if it's popular or not. I've never bothered to run it because like I said, even for skills with cast times my internet is too slow to react at all. I basically roll preemptively if I can find the rhythm of a person's attacks. I also do it if there are a bunch of people gunning for me or there's a ton of snares on the ground and I can't move otherwise and I'm gonna die not matter what. Not really a worry at that point if I run out of stam or not lol.

    Crusader has been reworked and that extension does not exist anymore 🙂

    I get desynced in BG's so often that I die 2 seconds after I trigger my ult but it never fires off and gives me the annoying "You can't do that while you're dead."

    It happens almost all the times from dizzy spammers, no matter how much I roll dodge, it still hit me when it shouldn't.

    The way the game is built, leads to so many calculations, which increases desyncs.

    People are gonna hate, but:
    If animation cancelling was stopped with ability cooldowns (user side), heavy attacks did more damage than light attacks (without resource regen) then the game would run so much smoother when under load (lots of players, doing calculation heavy moves).

    I get that too in BGs, I sometimes use my resto ultimate and it never ire until after 2-3secs, basically dead by then. Even down breaker too, it ruins the whole combo when you do everytime and you hit DB but nothing happends, you can even see your ultimate consume. Dodge rolling also like that, when I fight it seems everywhere can dodge roll my attacks, but I get stunned or killed mid roll by things like dizzy, surprise attack, excution...etc of all single target attacks. I do one skill, enemy already doing 2 or three. All this is ping related issue. How far you are from the servers determine how effective your skills are.
