Stadia - Let's be transparent, shall we?

SaintAemilian
While I... enjoy.. ESO, I do not enjoy the lack of transparency regarding how to actually connect your account to Stadia.

Nowhere in the Help Article or on this website is there any indication that not only do you have to purchase it from here or Steam or wherever, you also have to buy it - Again - on Stadia to be able to play it on Stadia's buggy, constantly-lagging streaming server. And yes, my internet speed is gargantuan in terms of speed, there is no reason that servers should be lagging when everything else I stream is more than perfect.

Briefly summarizing - Do not believe that you will be able to link your account to Stadia and instantly be able to play the game. Sorry for sloppy grammar, but 'it ain't gonna happen'. And to be honest, Stadia isn't really worth the effort to go Pro.

This was made for informational purposes only. Any responses will be ignored.

This sounds more like an issue with Stadia being a terrible platform than ESO itself.

I mean seriously it just sounds like Google gave up on improving the user experience in any meaningful way, just like many of their other side projects.

OP, I hope that you continue on PC or switch to a console.

I use Stadia sparingly when I want to play on the bed, sitting in the restroom, or elsewhere in the house. I don't use the chromecast and controller as having two wifi devices is pretty bad even at 600 Mbps upload/download speeds. I use my phone and razer kishi snap on controller works far better. I bought it when it was on sale for $10 and not on Stadia pro, its stuck at 30fps either way, lockpicks advanced and masfer are impossible with the latency, and while that sounds bad its really has its charm.

I like that it is connected to my steam account so I don't have to start over, i can play where ever I want when pc is doing other things or I don't feel like turning it on for some casual play. I also do it occasionally for destiny 2. There's no addon support, but at least it uses the same keybindings I setup on pc. It's good for solo play and light content away from the pc.

Like you I use stadia in bed or for quick horse training. Anything remotely challenging I will use the PC. Stadia would be more useful if it could use add-ons for writs and surveys. I wonder how the Steam Deck will do? It fits a similar niche but being a mini computer it can do more. Of course Steam Deck cost more but I have feeling Stadia won't be here for long. Google has a habit of giving up on things that don't pick up traction.

While it probably would be good for Zenimax to note that purchasing a separate copy for Stadia would be needed since not everyone would automatically understand that it is a different platform which would likely require a different copy of the game.

However, the performance is likely different for everyone. One's internet service is fairly irrelevant since that is merely the last mile for a distance that is hundreds of miles. I think the data used for steaming HD is enough to deter anyone.

I just use Parsec on a laptop to connect to my computer. Despite streaming the whole screen, it is surprisingly fast. And free.

We have a pretty good idea what the Steam Deck performance will be because form factor aside you can run ESO on Linux plus Proton on near identical PC hardware today at the same resolution. Quite nicely is the answer - and the deck will feel snappier because the display resolution is lower (1280x800 versus 1920x1080).

It's also not two levels of lag because the game is running on the Steam Deck.

I imagine that ESO would actually be little worse on a properly implemented Stadia like game system providing that the rest of it was in the same data centre as the servers not at Google. One day we'll no doubt find out and ESO will end up on whatever Microsoft's pitch at cloud gaming matures into.

First time i logged on PC - stadia just opened eso account page to log in and link stadia. Have it on phone, tv and pc (xbox controller) all on wi-fi, on phone is enough to jump in for daily rewards, mount training even some overland. On tv have went direfrost for pressure plates with my main account on pc. Also did nMA and nVH but it goes with a lot of picture quality spikes on my internet, not high speed but unlimited. Similar performance in IC at this event as pc.

Stadia has somehow maxed effects that annoys me - lightning everywhere. On pc i have all toned down at acceptable minimum.

Also stadia is not available everywhere.
