Have been playing ESO since the game was released on Console. Really enjoyed all the early DLC releases. But never really felt like trying to gather a group for Craglorn. I soloed a few quests enjoyed the challenge but the quests are best with two players. I did Strada's Tear with a random a whispered outside the door and wow that quest felt like a deep scary dungeon crawl reminding me of a Skyrim delve always finding more twists and turns puzzles etc ended up completing 3 daily quests and having fun I have not had in ESO since Imperial City Release.

I always felt every zone in ESO should be like Craglorn. Where you have a mix bag of group areas, and non group areas. The old MMO EverQuest did a really good job at this. Remember those Sand Giants.😂😂

At release, the zone was amazing. Unfortunately, like a lot of things in game it was nerfed considerably since then so it doesn't offer the same challenges the original group experiences provided, but the core of all the quests and stories is thankfully quite good and the trials are still fun. Glad you are enjoying it! :)

I agree! I don't think it gets the love it deserves. The zone itself is really unique, the story and quests are a lot of fun, and the lore is really interesting; it's one of the few zones where I pay attention to the story/quests. Hel Ra Citadel is probably my favorite trial in the game, and the storyline that spans all three Craglorn trials is neat.

But not all those copy-pasted world boss, those are incredibly boring dunno why they've done that in Craglorn !
That said the quest and aera where pretty good, I agree with OP on this.

Yep! Craglorn remains one of my favourite zones, even 7 years after the fact. The story was really interesting, and the pacing was excellent. Its also amongst my favourite world spaces, aesthetically - especially Upper Craglorn. The artists did an amazing job in bringing this little part of Tarmiel to life- gloomy nedic towers dotting the hidden valleys and peaks. I'd always dreamed about seeing the other side of the mountains from Skyrim, and this zone did an amazing job of giving us that, and bringing it alive and making it feel unique. I love it, and I still go out of my way to run across here for mats when I want a low-key mindless grind so I can just enjoy the aesthetics.

Speaking of which, @ZOS_JaredCarr , what are those big conifers meant to be? What was the real-world geographical inspiration for Upper Craglorn? My guess was the Hindu-Kush, Tajikistan sort of area. And... if you ever get the chance, would you guys ever consider putting in a loadscreen between Dragonstar and the Reach? It makes sense for these two zones to be connected, geographically, and it would just be awesome for exploring!

I only enjoyed it recently because it was soloable but not too easy.

    At launch it sucked.

It took me over 3 years to finally do the Craglorn quests - and was super satisfied with the storytelling, the lore, and the overall vibe. Still haven’t done it since I moved to PC - but look forward to running through it again (umm… after farming trials & dailies like crazy during the event! Lol).

It is a fun zone to explore for the first time. It feels geniunely dangerous. When I first started in 2018 and I went to craglorn I got clobbered and thought "wow, this is the place I'll have to come back to!" and it felt good to have that loom over me driving me to get better.

Visually craglorn looks so amazing in the evening. I sometimes just stand still in game and stare off into the scenery. 😍

It was even harder before that. We had a dedicated group of Nirncrux farmers that would hang out in Northern Craglorn before OT was released. Maaaaan. Those days were the best. The regulars were awesome and helpful. There was node decorum (people sharing, even splitting nodes). I miss my first guild ever that I found there. It was hard work, a hard life, but it had a really great community. I honestly haven't seen the old regulars going on five years now. :'(

I was not around for the AEGIS system. It was removed in SWL too. I heard it was only done to draw out player time spent in game through grinding, grinding, grinding. https://mmosworld.com/secret-world-legends-why-the-aegis-system-will-not-be-missed/

It was rough. It did a lot of that, but there was so much grinding involved that a lot just got tired and left. I did some SWL for a while, but the combat wasn't the same. The old Craglorn though? Was as hard as some of the areas in TSW. Especially some of those enemies in Blue Mountain, there was similar difficulty. Kind of a mix of that and Transylvania now that I think about it and the mob densities. God, thems were some fun times.

They'd all be pretty empty. Craglorn was dumbed down because people couldn't find other players to do the forced group content. If you were to take the relatively few players who want that sort of challenge and then spread them throughout every zone in Tamriel they'd be spread too thin to achieve anything. Limit it to new zones and they'd be popular for a few weeks after release and then they'd be empty, which was exactly the problem with the original Craglorn. 99% of players don't do the overland content for a challenge. Nor do they do it for grouping.

It is, as a matter of fact, really good content with good characters and good quests and good encounters.

And some of the group-themed content is as good as any dungeon in the base game (and, honestly, should be tweaked just a bit to be included as dungeons).

Craglorn is hopping with players right now. I'm sure some of them are there for the double node drops (Nirncrux, woo hoo!), but most of them that I see are joining together to defeat world bosses, and are doing the repeatable quests. If it were just about getting an event ticket, they could just as easily go to Wrothgar instead-- unless they don't have access to the Orsinium DLC, which I imagine is true for some of them. It remains to be seen how many of them stick around after the event, but I'm thinking at least a few of them will.

Well, in most chapters you have an equivalent of "group areas" in form of demanding World Bosses or Dragons.

Well, Craglorn was never my favourite zone. Its aestethics and the lore background based on constellations didn't and still do not appeal to me. But challenges are nice. And maybe one day they will add some content representing those Covenant forces and supplies marching towards Cyrodiil ;)

Yes because of the event. Rest of the time it's deserted and you cant find anyone to even tackle world bosses. Once event is over it will go back to the usual.

Yes, I strongly suspect that most of them will, just as happens with any other zone that has an event. But hopefully a few of them will decide to visit more often.

The only time outside of this event I see people in Craglorn is at the main town of Belkarth, otherwise outside of town, you rarely see anyone.

Craglorn was a missed opportunity on release. Too many disincentives and not enough incentives for people to actually do the content outside of trials. The content itself is some of the best in the game.

I really like the Spellscar and Skyreach catacombs quests, too. Great dungeons, great visuals, great atmosphere. Also the fights offered more engaging gameplay due to increased difficulty. I wish we would have more delves, public dungeons and daily quests like that in DLC zones.

I very much enjoy the music in Craglorn and, in some ways, the atmosphere of the zone. That said, questing is a confused mess. Navigation is fraught with cliff-blocking navigation headaches. Over all, it joins Wrothgar and Clockwork City as one of my least favorite zones.
