CP 3.0 idea 💡

My idea for CP 3.0? Return it to 1.0., and dial the max percentages down a bit (which would have worked fine to curtail power creep in the first place). 2.0 didn’t work. Not everyone will share my opinion but I can’t stand it. The layout is obtuse and I’ve been playing a long time, I wonder what relatively new people think? The old system was far simpler and satisfying, it actual felt worth it to add your champ points when you got them instead of 2.0 - might as well wait until you have at least 10! Thanks!

Better idea - you hit level 50 and you're done! No more champion levels. All the benefits from current champion points get distributed into skill points abilities and passives.

This version isn't going away and they're going to build on it adding new star points every major update. The old system did too many checks on the server and they want to move away from that, only giving you consistent passive stars that don't need to do constant checks sent to the server and at most 12 that do.

I like this new version - makes a whole lot more sense to me than 1.0 did (the only thing I did with 1.0 was look at Hack's layout and tweak a couple of things).

I'm fine with the new system, it's an improvement on the old one.

As for doing away with champion levels altogether, that would just lead to an almighty complaint that there was no point playing beyond level 50 because there was no progression. Distributing all the benefits of current champion points into skill points, abilities and passives would make for even more complaints about the game being too easy.

CP 2.0 is way better. I can actually figure it out myself, which I couldn't do with 1.0.

I doubt Zenimax would revert the changes as suggested or even make another overhaul this soon. It would be akin to admitting complete and utter failure which I doubt any developer would do. BTW, I am not suggesting the change was a failure by any measure. Just pointing out why Zenimax is not likely to create a CP 3.0 so soon.

    My idea for CP:

Stop making us choose between slots. 90% of them will never be used by ANY character because there are other slots that are better. The MAJORITY of CPS should be always-on.

Stop nerfing characters. Do not do things that make ANY beneficial number smaller. We have worked to earn that power level.

The only thing I think they could add for CP is CP profiles that we can manually set and then load for other characters. I know PC has addons for this, but I can only imagine how frustrating this could be on console. :/

What I don't understand is that we got a brand new system for leveling. Which would combat a few major issues with the previous system. One of the issues was that we all had extra CP points that were unusable. And its the same story with the new system. Im 1440 cp on my EU account and Im putting points into things which I don't even use. There literally no sense of progress AT ALL in ESO yet again.

I'd just be happy if they removed slots & had everything as a passive then balanced it know eventually you'll be able to benefit from every node.

Of course you would rather a convoluted system than a clear one. There could only be one clear reason: the convoluted system gave you a clear advantage somewhere.

I like the new cp system, just wish most fo the green tree was not slottables.....

No, I don’t expect the new CP will ever get walked back… my biggest beef is progression. Under the old system almost every point mattered. Now, you need 10 points to “level up” (with most, some only need 8 and there are only a few that are fully incremental) in a given tree so progression isn’t just slower… it’s exponentially slower.

What's been said above and the lack of relevant passives makes the CP system almost irrelevant after reaching CP900-1200 for a lot of builds.
Around this level you already have all the slottable CP nodes you need + all the relevant passives for your purpose and you no longer know what to do with the additional point you earn, i know that and i'm only CP1100.
Not everyone wants to have a jack of all trades, PVE+PVP+DD+Tank+Healer+Thief+Crafter on the same toon, so i find arguments like "No, it is ok for me, this CP system is ok for me, i can just switch my slottables around" equally irrelevant.
And that comes from a player with one single toon, PVE/DD/Thief/Crafter :D

    I prefer the new system.

Such as how they separated out all the crafting, gathering, etc into one tree, because now there is no conflict between what I want for combat and what I want for crafting, gathering, etc. So to take one example on the old CP tree the passive for increased quality of items in treasure chests was 75 into one of the green trees, a tree that I had little use for on many magcika builds, so basically couldn't take it on a lot of builds, the new system solves that.

Nor did I like the silly faffing about on the percentage based values on the old system to get just over the next whole percent, the new system of you put 10 points (typically) in giving you an X % increase is far more usable, far clearer.

I also think limiting it to 4 active slots is a good thing bearing in mind they removed the 810 CP limit, it helps reduce the power creep of 3600cp(?) max, which is good for the health of the game. And that includes the green tree, not sure why some people think non-combat should be exempt from having to make choices.

Lastly I find the notion of the reward for higher CP to be able to tinker with or switch builds easily pretty nice, certainly more interesting than the old system.

The only thing I would change would to be to reduce number of slottables and make most of them passive.

Hard to understand the desire to create a new CP system where points essentially become useless when you're about a third of the way to your max CP.

IMO, it's symbolic of what's been going on in the whole game the last couple years...watering down functionality until things are stripped of interest and enjoyment. ESO is now like an ice cream shop where the only flavor available is vanilla.

I actually disagree OP. I might be minority, but I prefer CP2.0. It actually feels more worth it to add CP's now than it did in the old one.

In the old system, basically everything ended up getting filled up anyways. All of my characters had the same CP layouts. I stopped paying attention to it because it didn't feel worthwhile to add points.

This new one, there are different directions for me to go, different specializations for me to customize my character and make it unique.

I do feel the system can greatly be improved, even as is, and more can be done for character specialization and individualization, but I do find it to be an improvement over the last system.

I preferred CP 1.0 as well, I don't understand some saying it was hard to understand. If you put points into percentage increase star just round down if you can't get to the nearest whole increase, until you could you could put those points into a flat increase star like penetration or resistance. If CP 2.0 is here to stay for a while I believe it would make sense to at least have the passive stat increases equal to something like a stat line on a legendary piece of armor or glyph.
