Can players help me with a test to gather information for a bug report?

I sent a bug report for something strange happening in my game.

When I dismount from any mount, during the animation my frame-rate lowers, and it can potentially be quite a difference.

If I skip the animation by dismounting with a skill the frame-rate is not affected at all.

Just wondering who else is experiencing this, as not everyone does and I wonder what the common factor is!

I will list off all I've done so far.
  • The action of dismounting from any mount causes a framerate drop. The amount varies, but it is always there and repeatable.
  • FPS loss happens during the animation of dismounting. If I use a skill to leave the mount, and skip the animation, there is no fps loss at all!
  • If another player dismounts in front of me there is no FPS loss.
  • It does not matter what graphics settings are used or if multi-threaded rendering is enabled. Seems to not be in any way connected to graphics.
  • FPS loss is greatly reduced if done in the middle of nowhere with no NPCs or players around.
  • I have a newer gpu and the latest drivers. I've even cleared out all of eso live folder to download fresh ini files.
  • All addons were cleared and uninstalled. It didn't affect the fps loss during dismount animation.
  • It doesn't matter if I had riding skill training or the major gallop passive. I tested on a brand new character and the fps loss on dismount animation persisted.
  • Race/gender does not influence it. I tested on many characters.

Can't help you - I don't use mounts much. I did mount on a lowbie today, but her riding speed is pretty low, so didn't stay mounted long. Didn't notice anything like you're describing though.

Are you using the new multi-threading thing? If so, you might say so - because that might make a difference in what you are experiencing. Others who aren't using it might have no issues?

My suspicion is that some kind of calculations are being used to synchronize a player and their mount while the dismounting animation is happening.

That might be why if I skip the dismount animation with a skill cast or see another player dismounting I do not lose 1 single frame. But if I do the dismount animation I will always lose frames, the amount varies depending on how many NPC and PC entities are in the area.

The amount of frames lost can be as much as 25 or as little as 2. But skipping the animation of dismounting and there is 0 loss. 😯
