Vampire Fast Travel

Anyone else wish that GreyMoor had replaced the star pattern tracing fast travel animation with this for vampires when they leave or arrive by fast travel?

    Well from a lore standpoint, I don't think a cloud of bats can get to Coldharbour and back.

    Maybe a unique mount for Vampires where they become a swarm of bats would be better.

    I'm sure the Fighter's Guild wouldn't mind a cloud of bats flying into and out of their portal! :p

    I actually had this same idea years ago. I wanted unique and cool animation for teleportation based on certain factors. For example reaching a certain level in the mages guild allows you to open up those orange oblivion portals. Vampires could get the bat teleport. Psijic order could unlock a blueish yellow portal. And so on and so forth.

    Would certainly be an idea for a vampire themed personality. That way you can choose if you want it or not too.
    This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

    While that would be cool, I think the time, money and effort put into trying to implement this in the game would be better spent elsewhere. The Vampire skill line still needs a lot of touching up.
    Also, if player vampires could "turn into bats" for fast travel, and nothing else, there would be a consistency issue with how such an obviously powerful ability is not reflected in their skills and not used in combat.

    I’d prefer mist form to have some bats but I can see how it can get annoying real fast (bat noises)

    This can be adjusted by making multiple skills do the same, but with different animations.
    Imagine, ie, that sorcs huricane, templars ritual and vamps bat swarm would cost the same amount, do the same dps, had the same range etc, and would share the same cooldown, so you can use only one at a time.

    So you had different options and basicalyl skill customization, while staying in the same dps range. That would let you combine rp with raiding etc.

    And with changes like these, you can also adjust the telport, riding, sneak animations to whatever you are, ie, vamp could telport as bats and leave small bats behind when riding a horse, while warevoulf could leave some hair or smth behind it when riding and act more like a dog when sneaking, etc. I'm sure pro devs can thing of these animations. And since they are client side only, it would cost no resources from server.

    The thing is, that this is what could very quickly make ESO just another random mmo.. 1000 different effects for the same thing, to fulfil someone's fantasy about how x should look like and behave.. as it stands now, we all rely on the same fundamental mechanic/magic to teleport and fast travel.. creating an ever increasing bunch of effects for it, would not be a good thing..

    As I understand it, teleportation between wayshrines is a product of the shrines themselves, and you can't use this network to either teleport from a wayshrine to anywhere, nor can you use it to teleport from anywhere to a wayshrine; and going by the name I figure Recalling to a wayshrine/your house utilizes the Recall spell.

    In both cases, teleportation to a place is the end goal, whereas bat cloud travel I'd consider to be a means to an end - as in, you transform into bats, then you use that ability to fly to another location (different action), and then you transform back. It would be strange if transforming into a cloud of bats was intrinsically tied to fast travel and only to fast travel. Now that I think of if, it would also be strange if bat travel would only allow you to travel to specific locations on the map (wayshrines and houses) instead of literally anywhere - while the two existing teleportation abilities are by their nature tied to locations, I see no reason why a vampire would only have limited control over their transportation.

    It would be cool if we did get something like this, but I would like to get some sort of bat cloud form in the Vampire arsenal to tie those two together.

    Also, I'm not sure if it would even be reasonable to ask for a different animation based on certain conditions - right now I'd imagine the code goes something like "when player recalls, play recall animation", and I'm pretty sure there's no wayshrine teleport animation. Throwing bat travel into the mix would basically turn it into "when player recalls, check if vampire. If true, play vampire animation. If false, play regular animation", and that's without taking wayshrine teleportation into account.
