Is Companion Rapport per Character or per Account?

Are all my companion rapport gains (and losses) different for each character or for my account?

Pretty sure that is the case since it is rapport is character-based. It would make sense as there are likely achievements related to this and initially getting the companion.

    Thanks.

I guess I will (may) find out in the future. I would give up the extra quests though for less leveling in that area. Though I think it is not that important.

the companions level is acct wide, the rapport is per character

** you have to "unlock" the companion on each character, and once you get enough rapport you can do the 2nd, & 3rd quest, after the 3rd , it becomes a house guest**

How many books, alcoholic drinks, psijic portals, excavations and giant snakes does it take exactly to unlock those second and third quests? I feel like I’ve been grinding these forever and the needle has barely moved. Outside of the occasional bug flying directly on a rss node I almost never have a rapport decrease.

Those are small fry. Like +1 or +5.

Do the dailies for +125 rapport. Mages Guild for Bastian. Fighter's Guild and Numani-Rasi's Ashlander Relic daily for Mirri.

Rapport should be account wide. Also zos should add an option to disable their keepsakes and not receive enhanced potions or loot bags when companions are not summoned.

I agree that rapport should be account wide. This has been the biggest roadblock for me because I don't have it in me to grind these tedious dailies 6 times a day (2 companions x 3 characters), on top of everything else I am trying to accomplish.

If this were fixed I may actually have motivation to use them.

The problem with rapport being account-wide is that we don't all play our characters the same way, and we don't therefore want all our characters to have the same rapport with companions that the first character to have a companion established and bound to the account.

As for rushing to max out the companions' rapport by tedious grinding, that really is down to the individual player to resolve. Suffice to say that there is no reason to rush anything in a genre that is designed to be played for years, not weeks or even months. If you choose to grind in order to accelerate the normal process and timeline then that's down to you!

If leveling companions is account wide, why not rapport? Especially when there is a passive buff associated with it. I doubt many players wouldn't want all their characters to have the same rapport for this reason alone.

There's no buff for good rapport on all characters. They just say different things.

Mirri has the Treasured Companion achievement that rewards you with Ancient Anticipations Idol, granting the permanent effect of Mirri's Expertise perk.

Bastian has the Brother-In-Arms achievement that rewards you with Bastian's Julianos Medallion, granting the permanent effect of Bastian's Insight perk.

Yes but you can unlock it permanently as a 'keepsake' with a single character for your whole account.

They don't even have to like you if they're summoned, they'll still give the effect while out.

Wait, what? The keepsake is account bound so I get the perk on all my characters once one gets it?

That certainly changes things for the better.

I realized Mirri doesn't mind you taking thieves troves (which put Bastian in a fit - as if we should leave them for the thieves), but she definitely doesn't like killing people with blade of woe.

I noticed that, I was doing the Borderwatch quest. As it was an hostage rescue I did it as an stealth mission because why not.
Used blade of woe on an enemy, thinking it was murder of innocents she did not like. But she got angry because the weapon :)
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

The choice of which companion aspects are account-wide and which are per player is a bit odd.

Their skills, gear (and therefore optimum role) is account-wide, so you can't build them as a tank f0r one character, and as DPS for another. They can't carry their own alternate gear to make a switch, even if you train them up for more than one role.

They have only one outfit, but each character can give them a different costume (but no hat). So appearance is not quite account-wide.

Maybe, but I find while on my magblade I get into trouble and Bastian the Prude doesn't like it. Also doesn't like it when I accidentally kill a frog while killing mobs.

    Agree.

Would prefer if they could at least carry gear to be able to swap roles, as would prefer them to be in different roles for different characters.

And the outfit thing is odd. My main has created one for Mirri, but it does not show if on an alt - which is annoying. Especially if I can’t then re-create the outfit (or another) for when using on an alt.

All seems a bit - haphazard?

You need to go into the Companion menu and toggle on their outfit.

I'm still working to unlock them so I can't confirm this.

However, the keepsake is in the collection menu, and I'm not aware of anything else in collections which is character-based.

Even if for some (terrible) reason the keepsake is character based, the companion still doesn't have to like you for their perk to operate while they're summoned.

I am about 2 weeks away from maxing them on one character so I'll find out then. I had stopped even trying because it was more of a grind than I could handle thinking I had to max rapport on every character.

I don't care if they like me or not, I just want the perks.

He gripes, but I don't believe it impacts rapport.
