Better to be a Vampire or Werewolf for Mag Sorc in PVP?

I see a ton of werewolves running around Cyrodiil lately. I'm neither one atm. From what I've heard a vamp is the way to go as a mag sorc and stay in level four? How hard is it to stay in level four if so? Thanks all, insightfuls given to all.

    On magsorc you are way better off being neither a WW or a Vampire.

    WW doesn't do you any good as you won't benefit from it as WW skills scale with stamina and weapon damage.

    Magsorc also doesn't benefit enough from being vampire to warrant the drawbacks towards cost increase.

    Werewolf is purely stamina builds only as all of its abilities scale off physical damage stats with the exception of it's max health heal that costs Magicka.

    You have to really build into vampire as a magSorc to take advantage of it's passives, and Streak does more for you than Mistform as a PvP defense tool. Best things Vampire gives a Mag Sorc without needing a whole lot of commitment for Undeath is Swarming Scion and the sneak speed penalty removal. Sorc was not made for melee brawls so Vampire's melee playstyle runs counter to your class's strengths.

    Vampire Stage 3 for up to 30% damage mitigation. It scales linearly so at 50% health it's an extra 15% mitigation equivalent to 9900 resist. Very strong.

    Werewolf has some major issues.
    • Players will cherry pick and target you
    • Unable to sustain both stamina and magicka simultaneously
    • Need at least 20k magicka for heals, 25k preferred
    • Constantly heavy attacking unless 3k+ stamina recovery
    • Lose transformation when defending flags/relic in battlegrounds
    • Frequently enter BG without ultimate for Werewolf transformation
    • No taunt for tanking dungeons
    • Unable to heal dungeons without going to shrine and changing mundus daily
    • WeaveDelays addon does not track werewolf light attacks
    • Some IC bosses can't be killed because of ground aoe (e.g. Frost boss in tunnels)
    • Werewolf has very low mobility and needs some form of +movespeed from gear
    • Major DPS loss when not attacking front of target
    • Requires Gaze of Sithis or you won't have enough balance between damage, sustain, and mitigation

    Stamina sustain is a constant issue for Werewolf until you get around ~3000 recovery.

    Here's what the data looks like.

    The average time between heavy attacks doesn't start going up until around 3000 recovery and around 4500 recovery you will never have to heavy attack. The only way to get this is with The Serpent mundus + Stamina Jewelry + Jailbreaker Set + Eternal Vigor Set. This means no set for damage or mitigation.

    Wow that's great info thank you. And thank you everyone else also. My mag sorc is pure magicka build pushing almost 60k magicka. Does some heavy dps but always looking for ways to tweak out more. It's nice to know about the stamina though, I've got another stamina toon that will benefit from this info.

    Pretty much it. Everything in extra magic. Just built it a few weeks ago does pretty good so far. I'm kind new to PVP though so once i get better I'll replace magic with other things.
