Yesterday Rich Lambert was hosting a stream on Twitch and was answering some questions from Chat, one of them was: "When will Stamdk get an instant meele spammable?"

The idea behind an instant meele spammable is to allow Stamdk in PvP to run S&B frontbar and no longer being reliant on using dizzying swing as this forces it into the same niche as Stamina necro and Stamina warden.
Both of those classes are tremendously outclassing stamdk rendering it obsolete as there simply is no chance of competing.

There's a video of Rich's answer to this question but it's too painful to share it here, but he basically said that he sees no reason to add it at all.

When you listen closely to the video you can hear the hearts of all people breaking, who enjoyed stamdk prior to the Heroic Slash nerfs.

not implementing what some people want does not equal "don't care about our opinions"

Everybody is always going to look out for their favorite class and want to buff it to be the best. It's the devs job to sort out those who want to make their class OP over those that are needed for balance sake.

With Stamwarden and Necromancers existing, they can be sure that they won't overbuff Stamdk too easily.

This is so sad.... A melee class skill for DK must be the most requested feature for years now ever since the SnB nerf[snip]

I too like to deal less damage with my ability than my Light attack, there is no proper spammable that deals decent enough damage.

It does because this has been probably the longest running request from players ever. And it sucks to just have it refused like this.

No one wants a class buffed to be the best or op. This is a question of playstyle and gameplay. ZOS could easily balance it out somewhere else on the DK. Not jusy dismiss the idea entirely.

DK was my first character ever and I dropped it because I no longer resonated with it after some time. Not because it sucked not because it became a pain to play, but because Zenimax ruined the class fantasy I had with DK.

My experience with stamDKs in PvP was you just wanted to put as many DoTs on target as possible, so stuff like the claw swipe and poison breath, (along with a lot of poison bow abilities), and then let the target freak out, run away, and melt. Might be easier to just caltrops 'em, and then put DoTs on, before letting them scamper off and expire.

Since Dragonhold no one dies to dot damage from regular skills alone.
There's also no reason to run Caltrops when Noxious applies major breach already.

Also running bow on stamdk is actively worsening your performance.

"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment"

How about Purge Protection instead - and an improvement to the hitbox for Noxious / Engulfing?

Given other recent changes, the desire for StamWhip might be satisfied if Molten Whip were given Dynamic Scaling ala Flames of Oblivion. The skill already gives a Weapon Damage buff.

In my view, one of the big issues with a DoT-dependent offense right now in 1v1 or Smallscale is that they're the least effective against the strongest class - MagCroTank - on account of Curative Curse, Disdain Harm, and Hexproof.

And a skilled Templar or Warden with their netch constantly up. Three of the six classes can actively shut down a Dragonknight's offensive power which is problematic to say the least. Also ball groups spamming purge make it hard to really get any meaningful hits in.

Yeah, that tracks. Specifically, I don't remember running into many Necrotanks in the sewers, but, yeah, I can see where that would hobble most DoT builds.

Yeah, now that I think about it... that puts them in a bad situation. It also explains why I wasn't having problems with my NB's build, because it was 1v1ing, but uses a DoT stack players are unlikely to notice. So, the wardens I took out probably didn't realize they needed to cleanse. And the Templar kills I got were in uncoordinated mass melee where it's nearly impossible to see the effect on you.

Like I said, I don't like playing DKs. You guys have my sympathies, as a Stamblade main, I do know how you feel.

StamDK has no class spammable, and MagDK has no class or weapon execute. I understand not wanting homogeneous classes, but it’s a shame that the devs don’t see the need for more parity for DK.

Both points make sense. It also seems that this is more about a specific build, being able to run S&B on the main bar (be a little tanky) and still do good damage.
