The Bleed from Dragons

What's a good way to deal with this when fighting dragons? Other than die and hope everyone else stays alive. Because even a templar with a resto stave doesn't seem to be enough to make the bleed not catastrophic to your health and by extension your sustain.

Do you mean the bleed from when they bite/autoattack you? Idk how tanks deal with it, but as DPS, I just run around the dragon in a tight circle so that it has to keep turning so that it can't bite me (way harder with the shock dragons). And if they do try to chomp me, roll dodge.

I do that but sometimes you're just going to get bit. So I'd like to counterplay to the status effect besides healing. Because that bleed is really nasty.

I slot Purge from "Support" skill line when fighting a dragon. Works like a charm.

I tried purge and it didn't work this last time I fought it, but I'll try it again. Maybe it was just bugged or something.

I may be wrong but I think last I tried (which has been a while ago, haven't bothered with Purge for a while), that Bleed was not cleanseable. The Soul Tear DoT was, yes, but the Bleed definitely seemed to stay. It's possible something has changed since then I guess though.

Generally as tank you can just eat it, it isn't that high with all the resist + self heals. As dps it's probably my #1 death reason if I get extended direct agro, can just try to shield/selfheal through it til maybe someone comes along and takes that dragon off you. Dragons are about the only thing in open world that actually need some sort of a tank. If there's a lot of people (which is the case more often than not) there'll usually be one, if you just trying to get some achieves/farming done with a friend or two, have one of you slap some tanky gear, s&b and taunt on, it'll make the fight infinitely easier.

So long as you keep in front of the dragon's wing they shouldn't be able to land a bite at all, and if you see their head rearing back to deliver one, that's the sign to dodge roll further behind the dragon to force them to rotate more. When I get hit by one though, spamming a shield until the dot passes normally works well enough.

Boop it on the nose. And by that, I mean bash/block when you see it coming and interrupt the bite. I'm dps, and since I figured out I could block bites, I rarely die from it unless I don't see it coming, then I'm a goner.

Tanks block and brace. At least I do. :-)

I wasn't able to interrupt it. Is there an animation I should be looking for? Purge didn't work.

The bleed is unpurgeable. Unfortunately due to this if you get hit you have to heal or shield through the damage. Blocking won't stop it either, it applied to my tanks plenty of times.

The bleed can also apply twice for some reason. I never figured out why but this game also isn't the most stable.

It rears its head up a little, almost like a snake about to strike. It's kind of hard to see, but there is a yellowy-orange sparkly animation around its head that tells you it's incoming.

That's the Chomp. You cannot interrupt it, but you can block or dodge (preferable for squishy people as it can and will 1shot dps even through block) it. However, there're also dragon 'light' attacks, as in bites, which apply the bleed. You can block and dodge those too but there's no clear tell for them and they happen pretty often.

Ah yes, that bleed also does stack. May be intended, I think there're a few other bleeds in the game that do that.

Huh. I block those, too, but I didn't realize they apply the bleed, I thought it came from the big bite. My bad.

I don't think any of this can be interrupted either...like just seems to be block and dodge roll.
