Hi guys,

I don't know if it's me, but why in DJ or Trials I never see a lot of stamina ?

It's not viable or another reason ?

Thanks for your feedback guys

Well stamina is used in PvP more than in PvE nowadays.

Do you mean CC? If you mean CC it's because the tank can keep things stacked up in one spot if things are not otherwise CCed.

I think because most of the popular guides etc give guidance based on mag classes in order to optimise buffs/debuffs etc

I main a stamplar and it is frustrating to say the least to see trial tactics run on the assumption that people will be on mag classes (generally at range) and buffs aimed at mag roles.

I don't PUG, and run trials in a social guild that has plenty of stam players (as do some friends), so I am relatively lucky that I do regularly run trials

You can easily do all content in the game on a stamina character.

It's just much easier to set up a trial run for a ranged mag group.
Higher pen, shield, ranged advantage more choices for support sets if they don't have to worry about pen debuff.

Why wouldn't you prioritize a mag group when everything is easier?

Crimson Oath set is a step in the right direction but the devs need to take a serious balance look at Stam to make it easier to hit the pen sweet spot.

Best would probably be to allow higher pen through CP.

Because they have been nerfed steadily over the years, and most organized groups plan their support around magicka, since they can do great damage, and have other utilities, plus the option to stay ranged, and so on. It seems like zos is trying to delegate mag for pve and stam for pvp, which is a massive shame. Stamina used to be pretty strong in the past, technically with some group tweaking it could still be, but most groups won't go there since it's less convenient, and not for better reward. But for those who play stam it feels like being gutted. And yeah, for most content you can play whatever, but for endgame, if you want to play stam, you will be underpenetrating, for which you will have to account yourself by sacrificing weapon types and enchantments, and futher hurting your damage potential, you will have worse aoe, and for some fights you will be out of range in certain phases due to position and movement. Sucks, but if they brought stam in line, at least more groups would be willing to spec for them, and you would see more variety (at the very least, you would see more ''LF 1 cro'', than all the 'LF 1 magcro')

I prefer to use Stamina and melee fighting in my PvE. It does make things more challenging for me, but that's why I like it.

I play a stamina nightblade, and I like it just fine. Haven’t done any trials or group dungeons though.

I don't do group content or pvp; my pve mains (and actually many of the characters I enjoy playing the most) are stam classes. I've never had a lot of use for magicka in TES games, and I've found that to be reasonably true in ESO as well. About the only mag classes I really enjoy are warden and sorc, which are also my favorite stam classes.

I run both Mag and Stam equally in trials, but most of the runs I do these days are social. I've had my fill of high end groups and the typical mindset that comes with it. Personally, if content is designed to be challenging in a way that dictates what gear I have to wear, and/or what class/race I have to be, it generally doesn't end up as an entertaining experience.

    Stam is pretty lackluster

You play one class you feel like you played all of them.

Mag meanwhile has so many skill options and morphs. you feel like your class legit has a identity.
Tbh mag skills also have better animations.

And doing a mag heavy attack feels awesome because you see double fire balls. meanwhile stam autos are just...like stam itself boring.

The only time stam was regularly played was back when they dealt more damage than mag, which justified their existence.
Then mag players cried because guilds didnt want them in every single raid.

I do pretty much everything on my stamblade. I do questing, dungeons, and trials, and it works fine. Even did some PvP with her, and as much as I dislike PvP, it wasn't too terrible last time. Anyone who says stam isn't viable is gatekeeping. In a well-designed game, every class should be viable for all content. Doesn't really make sense for certain classes or playstyles to not work in some activities in a game where you're allowed to play whatever class you want in whatever activity you want. I'd argue it's the meta players who claim it doesn't work, but I generally don't really care what meta players say. Stamblade is fun for me and works (if it didn't work, it wouldn't be fun), and that's all that matters.

Stamina can be viable but it is not optimal in serious/more end game pve content, that’s what it boils down to. It is a real shame since stam can be really fun to play, but as Jaimeh said, they lack penetration and it’s unlikely that a tank is going to run alkosh vs bosses when the majority of a group is running mag dds. Stam is at a huge disadvantage in any fights with ranged mechanics or that demand a lot of mobility from players as you can’t provide the same firepower that a mag dd can - double bow builds are generally inferior to mag dps too.

Take vCR for example - you want your dds either stacked on Z’Maja’s tail or near the middle of the room. Ranged dps can reach everything they need to hurt from those positions, melee not so much. Your melee would need to either not focus the correct targets or run across the room and deprive themselves of healing. You can get away with one person stuck like that but maybe you’d favour a mag dk in that case since they’re typically providing Z’en for the benefit of the group and they are less of a burden than a stam dd.

And that’s it, really, stam dds are a burden and effectively you’re asking every mag dd to work a little harder to compensate for stam’s shortcomings in your group.

It’s not like you only have one character slot though, you can have both kinds of dps available! This is from someone that has ALWAYS favoured dexxer/stam builds going right back to UO…
