Remove random items by guild traders PLEASE

So, I have now accidentally stolen items from several guild traders IN A ROW despite having the damn safety on!! How about removing such items from the guild trader area or make them not possible to steal? It's just one of those quality of life things that us players would REALLY like to have. It's ESPECIALLY frustrating when Bastian is up and we all know what his opinion is about theft...

There is an option in settings that prevents stealing items in the world its a separate option to the one that prevents looting stolen stuff from containers.

OK, the setting in options works now. What the hell?? I swear, this game is possessed!

Anywho, can a mod delete this thread please?

Unless you don't steal ever, what you need is the addon: https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info2780-TamrielGuard-disableaccidentalstealing.html , which prevents stealing when you're not hidden.

Update: can you PLEASE remove the sacks and crates that are located at the daily crafting writ dumping boxes? I don't understand what the point is in putting lootable crates at a location where YOU OPEN BOXES?!?

Likely devs have a counter which clicks every time someone gets bounty at writ deposit crates and whoever guesses closest to daily value gets a free doughnut at cafeteria.

Yeah, nothing surprises me by now. It's just such a meaningless thing that can be solved by removing them.

Yeah...I get that accidentally stealing something off the counter while trying to interact with the shopkeeper is a quintessential Elder Scrolls experience, but that doesn't make it fun.

In another thread, someone suggested increasing gold sinks by tying the fines for crimes like stealing and murder to the player's gold totals. I didn't write it, but I definitely thought "So, I'll get hit with 1000s in fines every time I accidentally loot an apple while trying to turn in my crafting writs?"

Or you can use the Lazy Crafter addon, and leave one writ undone, and it will prevent all stealing
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

The point of zos doing this, along with the annoying npcs that move around d the writ turn ins, is to make is difficult/impossible for someone to script the writ process to automate it. Because you know someone out there would and has probably tried.

It's not an option for those of us who use a controller. The addon doesn't work for me.

There really is no need to have the clutter RIGHT BESIDE THE DAMN BOXES! They can put the clutter outside of reach for crying out loud!

I used to enjoy stealing stuff from the guild traders' kiosks; it was part of my daily routine for a while.

As for the loose gear and lootable containers next to the writ turn-in crates, I used to enjoy stealing from there, too. IIRC, the loose gear is often green quality, so it can be nice to deconstruct it along with any intricate gear you get from your writs.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Or people could get better at aiming, checking what they are activating before just spamming buttons.. people could use the anti theft settings

That setting doesn't work on crates and bags.

Hmm, can't recall having issues with that.. test time I guess.. my point stands though, just spend a sec checking where the cursor is, and the problem is eliminated

It can be solved even more easily by removing the items? It gets VERY redundant when you have multiple toons to do daily writs with ESPECIALLY when you use a controller.

They aren't meaningless. I often steal from containers around town for endeavors, the Blackfeather Court dailies and just to level my Ledgermain.

Players who do not wish to steal have the option to disable it.

Clutter items might make the world more realistic, yes, but that doesn't mean they have to be interactable with. If it's clutter for scenery enrichment, then make them visual clutter items only. If they're there to prevent scripts from automating the dailies delivery somehow then this is a really bad design excuse that must be sorted some other way other than provoking a bounty, even if minimal

I don't mind them but WHY do they need to be right where you deposit items for the daily crafting writs?!? It's just infuriating logic!
