How is damage calculated exactly at current patch?

Hello my questions is what are the more important stats for PvE damage right now
Is it flat weapon damage and crit chance or is it max stamina for example and recovery?

It's easier to stack spell/weapon damage than it is to stack max magicka/stamina due to how the boosting calculations work, and of course due to the fact the amount of max magicka boosting you can slot doesn't quite touch just having major sorcery up. So when picking between building resources or damage it is more beneficial to build for damage, especially if you do a good job keeping your major brutality/sorcery up. Critical chance and critical damage in PvE is still the go to when it comes to damage as your foes don't have critical resistance so any gains there is going to have no drawbacks. I do know people like to build to around 8-10k penetration as well.

As for recovery it depends. If you have a pug healer or fellow DPS who have never heard of orbs before, or sets that boost sustain, then I'd recommend building a bit into sustain. However, if you have a really solid group that boosts sustain and has tons of magicka/stamina restoration available building into sustain is not as high of a priority.

You can find some formulas on UESP, especially in build editor & skills browser.

When it comes to W/S damage & stam/magicka, I would go with first one because:
    1. Coefficiency is simply better (129 give you much more in skills than 1000 of resource in coef 10,5:1).
    2. It boost LA/HA even more (resource have coef around 40:1)
    3. It enhanced most good proc sets (stam/magicka works only for few and i think most of them are focused on healing).

But when it comes to dmg & crit, you must experiment on your own. Usually, if your class and sets permitted, try to reach at least 50% crit chance (or get Mechanical Accuity). When you hit 60%, you can think of changing mundus from Thief to Shadows. But due to an ESO RNG you would need to run many parses to see which option give you better results.

AFAIK good w/s dmg will give you a really decent (and constant) punch of around 30-35k dps (even with Malacath, and it was in previous patch ^^) in veteran dung group, but if you want to harass trial dummy & make 100k+ dps, you will need to invest in crits. A lot.
