Cannot enchant gear - or rather it is rng based -_-

It seems it is RNG based for sure lol Some items can be enchanted, some cannot and I have absolutely no idea how to determine if I can enchant gear or not. This is after today patch. Example:
chest piece lvl50 CP160 - trying to apply glyph lvl50 CP160 - it works
gloves - lvl50 CP160 - trying to apply glyph lvl50 CP160 - doesnt work
relog
repeat
no effect on chest this time, gloves can be enchanted
relog
repeat
give up
What is going on? I checked 10 times if all pieces of gear and all glyphs are the same level. I thought it was ninja change like "cannot enchant purple gear with golden glyphs haha have fun" because yeah we all swim in gold but no, it's not that, I tried to enchant golden gear with golden glyph and for SOME pieces of gear it did not work, same situation as above. And yes, I try to enchant armor with armor glyphs -_-
So my question: WTF?

Are you sure you are using the correct kind of glyph?
It's easy to try setting a jewelry glyph inside an armor. It happend to me, back then.

Yes I am very sure. I am trying to enchant ARMOR with ARMOR glyph and one time it works, for some pieces, then it doesn't, for other pieces or the same, it's pure RNG. Weapons and jewelry are not affected, only random armor pieces. Today situation continues.

Is it possible that you're trying to replace one glyph with the identical glyph? The game definitely won't let you do that, but sometimes it's hard to know what quality/level glyph is on an item already.

Are you attempting to enchant the piece with an enchantment at the grade it already has?

Ie, the item already has a blue quality stamina enchantment, so you attempt to apply a blue quality stamina enchantment and it doesn't give you an option.

It never was an issue, often I was trying to apply the same quality glyph, yes, and it just simply showed the same values but never was the case with "no appropriate glyphs found". I had chest piece with magicka enchantment giving 868 magicka, crafted such glyph, tried to apply it over already applied glyph with the same quality and value, no issues, glyph found, values given before and after enchanting. So I don't think game doesn't allow, unless they ninja changed it, like, yesterday.

As replied above, this was never an issue, I am able to apply the same quality glyphs on weapons and jewelry as existing ones and until yesterday before the patch, there was the same case with armor as I could apply identical enchantment on armor pieces and the system was simply listing glyphs as available.

That is wrong. Applying the same glyph never gives you the option to reapply it.

Enchanting gold gear with gold glyphs will not work all the time by design.

If the gear was dropped gear and the enchant was the native enchant it will already be of gold quality. As such it will only accept a different types of enchants such as replacing a magicka enchant with stamina.

Of course, if this is crafted gear then the enchant level is not relevant to the gear quality.

Adding info for clarity. If it was gold dropped gear and the enchant has not been replaced then the enchant is already gold quality. You cannot apply an enchant to a piece of gear that already has the same type and quality already applied. @zvavi is correct about that.

a menu pic of the item and glyph you're attempting to use would help us try to help you because it sounds like you're trying to upgrade an enchantment using a glyph of the same quality as the current enchantment
