Mass mail function for guild leaders

Hi all,
I think it would be really useful if guild leaders had the ability to send mass mails to their guild members without using addons / the risk of a social ban. This function would allow for a better route of communication as (at least in my case) I know many guild members never read the MOTD (well MOTweek) and allow important information to reach all members quickly.

Members already get a notification when the message of the day is updated. If they're not reading it why do you think they'd read mail?

    Please no.

I don't want to be spammed by guild leaders every time someone sneezes. MotD is enough, and Danikat is right, they won't read mail any more than they do the MotD.

I agree with JoDiMageio. Please don't make this as a feature to the game... I already have to deal with getting junk mail from participating in cyrodiil.. I don't need my trade GMs spamming me with their book-size letters. You don't even need MotDs... just get your guildies to hop in Discord.. that way you can have live up-to-date of what's going on in the guild.

If I could opt out of receiving it then I wouldn't be opposed to it. Honestly don't really see the point though.

I would love this. Sending out mails to the guilds I am in for various events is a real problem. I would love if there was a way this can be done better.

I read the emails from my guild and I tend to ignore MotD updates because it was bugged for the longest time and kept telling me there was an update when there wasn't (It might still be, I don't know)

Because they have to actively have to go to the mail to delete it

    Not everyone has discord

The need for this feature comes from an incident that happened recently:
As a large group of guilds (10+ guilds) we regularly have massive lotteries involving the 10-15 guilds. Recently, a scammer began mailing guild members pretending that we were hosting a new lottery using the same format, even writing in the same style and mentioning guild leaders making the mail seem legit. We needed to communicate quickly that this was a scam mail, sure we can use discord and the MOTD but this will not reliably reach all members quickly, how else would we communicate to all members effectively?

I personally have no intention of using mass mails to send the big scroll of text that I'd post in the MOTD, just to use to send vital pieces of information to all guild members.

Discord is a free service that anyone can use. It's widely available through smartphones app store (Apple and samsung) and windows/macs. Anyone who has a computer or smartphone has access to Discord.

It does not mean that they have or use it.It is my experience that if I check my guilds membership, vs how many are actual discord members, the ratio is surprisingly small.

Also guilds should not need outside aids to organize guild events. Tools like mass mail systems and even calendars should be built into the guilds online functions.

We had the very same request in my main MMORPG, where the official answer was that it's not possible, because the in game mail system (and whisper chat) has a global flow limitation to prevent spamming. I wonder if it could be the same reason in ESO.

Edited for an add / for history: at the time, it had been one of the measures taken to prevent illegal gold sellers that had been a plague in the game for a while.

Not everyone has or wants Discord.

Not everyone logs in every day.

MOTD are often changed regularly - potentially daily as the name suggests - which can leave guild members missing important news when a message is overwritten.

Having the ability to Mail guild members can be really useful. I agree it has the potential to be abused, and an opt-out would be a good idea for those who value their mailbox privacy - but GM tools are few and far between so it would be nice to see something like this added in-game.
