Champion bar - how to use it in combat?

I just reached level 50 this week, and now have access to the champion bars, and have yet to actually spend any CP. What I can't work out, though, is how to *use* the champion bars, once I spend enough CP to be able to slot things into them.

I've searched this forum, and the internet in general, and found various pages and videos explaining the CP system, but none of them tell me how to use the champion bars. I also can't find any key bindings in the config page for these. Perhaps I just used the wrong search keywords, but I did try to answer my own question before posting here.

Can someone cure my ignorance, please?

Once you place points into the Champion perks you're interested in, you either receive the bonus automatically with the lighter, white colored nodes or you need to slot the perks in the bar at the top of the screen to activate the slottable stars. In either case, the abilities are just always on. You don't need to do anything during combat once you've spent points and slotted the abilities and confirmed it.

I thought the slots were for active abilities, not passive? How do you use those abilities once they're slotted? Or are the slottable abilities also passive, but you can only have 4 of them activated at any time per major category?

Yes, everything CP is passive. It's just always active vs needs to be slotted at the top.

Thanks for the replies, people, I appreciate the quick response. Now I just need to accumulate CPs, I have a paltry 13 right now, LOL.
