PS4 Pro 60fps

Hey guys, as someone who's a relative newbie on MMOs I saw that FFXIV was on sale on the PS store today and curiously searched for it. I am surprised to see that it runs 60fps on PS4 pro.

My question is why can't ESO do this? Even at least at 720p? Is ESO more graphically intensive or is it just the game's spaghetti code? (as seen on the multiple bugs on the game)

Thanks!

Because FFXIV is technically a PS3 game. The PS4 versions are unlocked versions of a game that was designed to run on lower hardware without problem. Though support ended for that console version several years ago the backbone of the game likely allowed the game to be pushed to 4k 60FPS on PS4 Pro.

ESO is a game for one designed for the PC/PS4/XB1. It’s well past a point where it’s original engine could even play the current game on base consoles. As such the developers have been recoding the entire engine patch by patch to allow the game to keep functioning.

Trying to ask a PS4 Pro to push 4K/60FPS would likely be a tall order involving a ton of graphic compromises that wouldn’t make it worthwhile to do.

Ahh makes sense. I'm aware that it can't run 4k/60fps so maybe at least 720. Thanks!
