Jewelry master writs no longer showing quest marker

The quest marker that was added above set-crafting stations for corresponding master writs is no longer showing for Jewelry master writs. AFAIK, this just started to happen after the last incremental patch. The other crafting lines seem to be working okay-- at least, I did a Woodworking master writ earlier tonight and a quest marker was shown above the set-crafting station as expected.

Okay, I'm getting this error (missing quest marker) sometimes, but at other times the quest marker is over the correct crafting station as expected.

What I think might be happening is that older Jewelry master writs-- ones from before the numbers of rewarded writ vouchers were adjusted to more properly reflect the cost of crafting the requested jewelry-- are not showing the quest markets, whereas newer Jewelry master writs are shiwing the quest markers.

For instance, I did a purple Jewelry master writ that had a reward of 30 writ vouchers and the quest marker was not displayed above the corresponding crafting station.

I then did a blue Jewelry master writ that also had a reward of 30 writ vouchers and the quest marker was displayed above the corresponding crafting station as expected.

I'm assuming the purple writ was one of the older ones, whereas the blue writ was one of the newer ones.

Yes. Blue writs and purple writs of the same voucher amount have never dropped at the same time. The purple writs for ~30 are of the second generation. Blue jewelry writs are all of the third.

Initially, in Update 18, purple writs were worth 6-8 vouchers, like the non-nirn purple writs of other non-consumables (some of the more recent ones of which now reach 9 vouchers), because ZOS didn’t even attempt to account for the fact they’d made jewelry a much longer grind (even though they’d explicitly done that to preclude equivalency with base game crafts). Gold jewelry writs were typically under 100 vouchers at that point. Some jewelry writs at that time (all purple or gold, as blue did not yet exist) had a cost-per-voucher ratio of over 15k. For comparison, things bought with vouchers typically bring in 1k gold per voucher at most, with many high-ticket items going for quite a bit less than that.

The second attempt (Update 19) raised the value on purple writs to the 20s-30s range at a minimum. That also was largely unsuccessful because it was only a fraction of the compensation necessary to bring jewelry writs anywhere near the cost ratio of other writs. They halved the cost to upgrade jewelry in the same update, along with restricting daily writs to dropping Chromium grains only instead of the other colors (since reverted), and still couldn’t bring it in line thanks to the factor of 10 when it comes to getting the materials. Gold writs at that point ranged from the low 100s to the high 400s, with no intelligible justification for the breath of that range in light of the fact that the greatest expense was always the cost of the upgrade mats, which all gold writs share.

Now (since Update 23) we have gold ones maxing out in the 600s, purple ones in the 200s, and blue ones in the range formerly occupied by purple (20s-30s). For the most part, the cost to complete per voucher is still higher than that of other writs, unless you’re doing a blue one with a pre-Update 18 trait (arcane, healthy, or robust). But at least it seems that enough people are doing them now to forestall another rework.

None of the voucher increases were retroactive. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if ZOS only implemented a new feature for the current generation of writs and didn’t bother with earlier ones.
