while I ultimately understand the point of the original post, i'm with Tandor - co-op tends to mean one thing, while in an MMO, grouping with anyone is essentially cooperative, pve or pvp - if you wanted to use the language the vast majority of us use for playing ESO, your question would be...

do you like playing ESO pve with friends, or even total strangers? (you might also add pvp to the pve, as that would also technically be cooperative)

I mean, people will, after reading the first few posts, probably understand your poll just fine, so it's not really a big deal. But I feel like it's an unnecessarily awkward way of asking what would otherwise be a fairly straightforward question

Co-op to me is a LAN party thing. Not my thing. And in this MMO, I don't play anything but solo. Too many bad experiences in other MMOs with the group etc. thing.

I prefer to be able to do things myself, not to say I won't group at all, I just prefer to make that choice myself rather than have content requiring you to group to be able to do it.

If you mean, do I prefer PvE over PvP, then yes, I do.

But as far as how much I cooperate with other players during PvE, I normally prefer to play solo rather than with other players. Sometimes I'll drop what I'm doing to go help someone kill a world boss or complete a dungeon if they've called out for help in zone chat or guild chat, but that generally depends on what I'm in the middle of.

I like playing with friends and with strangers. However, I use ESO to play solo mainly. If someone is on my way and need help, I will help, but ESO is for me the game where I chill on my own. :)

Which is weird. I love co-op but i hate pve.
I wouldn't say its same thing. In pve you are forced to do pve endgame in large groups or go home. But you can play pvp with 2men co-op.

For those who wonder why not just play a single player game if we are going to play solo, these are my reasons.

In ESO I can have social interaction while playing solo. I have friends in game I chat with while playing, and we do group up once in awhile and help each other. We also check out each other's houses and steal decorating ideas. Then there is the weekly guild raffle and auction that I participate in when I can. I also like seeing other players when I am in town, just like in real life.

I can't do any of that in a single player game.

Co-op is short for cooperation... working together in a group with others.

PvE is short for Player verses Enemy... specifically NPC (Non Player Character) enemies.

That is the difference between the two. You can cooperate with others in a group for PvE content, but you don't have to. (Veteran dungeons and trials are the exception because those are too difficult to solo.)

So when I voted that I "Dislike co-op" I meant that I dislike grouping with others when I'm playing, not that I dislike PvE content.

Well I pretty much considered anything with multiple people is co-op because that's how I understood it. Growing I understand co-op to be multiple people not just with a group those terms pve were never mentioned when I was a kid not even in RuneScape would anyone use that term when I was a kid. And that's the first MMORPGs I have ever played such terms are fairly new and I never understood short version of most anything it wasn't easy to figure out except for pvp which was a common term of the day this was in the late 90's and I didn't hear that term until 2016 so I'm not quite sure when people started using it. I'm not new when it comes to MMORPGs how every which some people have thought and I have been playing this game since 2016.

Sadly most everything I loved about this franchise was taken out of this game and the oblivion and Skyrim starting from levitate and many of the other weapon types like crossbows spears the core attributes all things I loved about the franchise all taken out of this game it's a big let down for me it's definitely not what I wanted in an MMORPG of this franchise that's for sure.

Just try to see the other titles of the series and ESO as separate adventures and not compare everything with each other. I really loved TES IV Oblivion and when I hear the Oblivion soundtrack, it's utter melancholy. But I also know that those feelings I have with the game are just that: sweet memories.
I waited a long time to start playing ESO and it took some time to get used to it, but now I love this game too, but in a completely different way.

So when I voted that I "Dislike co-op" I meant that I dislike grouping with others when I'm playing, not that I dislike PvE content.

I think PvE is more commonly defined as Player versus Environment, not Enemy, but as you say it relates to combat against NPC mobs as opposed to PvP which is Player versus Player combat.

The problem with all these sorts of discussions is that everyone defines things differently, hence my earlier question as to what specifically the OP was meaning by "co-op". My own interpretation is that co-operative play refers not to solo or group play, nor specifically to either PvE or PvP, but rather to situations such as at dolmens and world bosses where players co-operate in defeating mobs without being formally grouped. Personally, I love that sort of interaction with other players and I much prefer it these days to formal grouping or purely socialising with other players. It complements an otherwise solo playstyle very well in ESO.

I've been gaming since Ultima Online launched in 1997 and I never heard a game referred to as a co-op. It was always MMO or MMORPG. But I did some investigating and I found this, so now I understand your use of the term. Although this article does refer to co-op as a LAN, or a co-op mode where you work in groups. This is why many of us think of co-op as grouping.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooperative_video_game

Now that we cleared that up, my answer is I do love multiplayer games but mostly play solo.

I dislike FORCED co-op or grouping... which is why I loved FFXIV but also hated it too. I loved the storyline and quests... but hated that I was forced into group dungeons and trials in order to progress the MSQ. I much prefer ESO's approach where they offer additional story content in group dungeons, but you aren't forced into it, and can still complete the story arcs without completing them.
