How do motif drops work in dungeons with multiple hardmodes?

So, the True Sworn motif is releasing today. Nice.
Usually, doing the hardmode in a dungeon guarantees a motif drop. But how does this work in dungeons with multiple hardmodes like Black Drake Villa?

Do you have to do every HM in the dungeon for a guaranteed drop, or just the final boss?

Dungeons like this I'm pretty sure the last boss cannot be done on hard mode without other bosses hard modes being done first anyway.

You can't turn on HM on last boss if the bosses before that weren't killed on HM. So if you want 100% motif drop from HM last boss, you gotta kill all bosses on HM to be able to turn on HM on last boss.
